Cheaper summertime tunes
Summertime, and the rhythms are easy.
But I know, tickets to summer concerts can be way expensive. And who can afford extras like that anymore?
But if you can believe it, the people behind Live Nation, owner of the Ford Amphitheatre, wants to help you out.
They've launched a special called "No Service Fee Wednesday," which allows all you music junkies out there to buy cheaper tickets. The latest installment of this special offer for all lawn tickets kicked off at 12:01 a.m. today at LiveNation.com.
For 24 hours, tickets will cost a flat rate of $24.99. No fees! Shows include Aerosmith, the Blazed & Confused Tour/Slightly Stoopid -- Snoop Dog, Brad Paisley with Dierks Bentley, Depeche Mode, the Killers, No Doubt, Rod Stewart and the Warped Tour.
Who knows, maybe without all those fees you could buy yourself a beer. Maybe.

When I first came to Brandon in 1988, I thought, "There's a McDonald's here, so it can't be all bad." After a year, I moved to St. Petersburg and then Lakeland. When it became time to return to Hillsborough County in 1993, I could have picked Carrollwood, South Tampa or Temple Terrace, but the "60 " South" area just seemed like home. Kevin Smetanahas lived in Brandon most of his life, and he eagerly returned to the suburbs to join the Times in November after spending six months in South Carolina reporting for a newspaper, TV station and Web site. What I want to know is why does Florida have so many outdoor concerts in summer? Hello? It's hot as blazes and most likely it will rain. I've lived in Florida 25 years now and still can't figure out why they don't feature more outdoor concerts in "winter" (when it's actually pleasant to be outdoors).
