Everything I Know I Learned From a John Cusack Movie

Soon to be my hardcover bestselling novel, featuring proven truths such as:

-- Give a girl your heart, she'll give you a pen. (Say Anything)

-- The best defense is a good offense (Hot Pursuit)

-- If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there. (Gross Pointe Blank)

-- Go that way really fast. If something gets in your way ... turn. (Better Off Dead)

-- I've been listening to my gut since I was 14 years old, and frankly speaking, I've come to the conclusion that my guts have *&^# for brains. (High Fidelity)

-- To hold on to sanity too tight is insane. (Pushing Tin)

-- We may not always get what we want. We may not always get what we need. Just so's we don't get what we deserve. (True Colors)

-- Freedom, choices, possibilities. That's what I'm about. (Tapeheads)

-- What the hell's wrong with being stupid once in awhile? Does everything you do always have to be sensible? (The Sure Thing)

Of course, who can forget his little gem from "Sixteen Candles,"

"You know, black and white would just capture the moment so nicely."

"The best defense is a good offense"

Until now I've never known where that came from, thought it was from sports fanatic, but from a John Cusack (one of the only celebrities I go nuts over) movie, gee, that just made my day.

The Sure Thing:

"Junk food doesn't deserve the bad rap it gets. Take these fried pork rinds for example; they contain 1% of the RDA, that's "Recommended Daily Allowance", in riboflavin!"

I named my son Nick. Why because Nicks your buddy.

I'd buy this book, if it existing. Cut a deal with Cusask, Steve, and make it happen!

You forget one of the best, Gross Pointe Blank!! Defintely my favorite John Cusack movie."If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there." Reminds me I need to replace my crappy VHS copy and buy it on DVD...Also has an AWESOME soundtrack.

Christina

I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers!

Steve Spears

Yeah, great quote. But not really a life lesson. That movie is one of my personal favorites.

And never forget: "Gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up, Ricky." --Better Off Dead
