Boy George, Trash Man
I think this is finally rock-bottom for Boy George: The only way the gender-bending popster can attract a crowd is by sweeping a parking lot.
George tried to perform his court-ordered community service today in New York by sweeping the streets of Manhattan, but crowds of photographers forced sanitation officials to move him to a fenced-off parking lot. And it didn't take long for him to lose his cool (or whatever's left of it).
"You think you're better than me?" he yelled at the assembled media. "Go home. Let me do my community service."
The former Culture Club frontman (or frontwoman) landed with broom in hand after pleading
guilty in falsely reporting a burglary at his home in March. (No burglarly, mind you, but the responding cops found cocaine instead.)

E-mail Steve Spears:

I live in New York and I don't give a crap about Boy George sweeping the streets either, nor would I gather if Donald Trump had to do it.
It would be interesting for all of one minute, then I'd just realize that it's just somebody sweeping the street and I'd get over it.

Does anyone really care that much about Boy George anymore? At least insomuch that we want to see him street sweep?
This is right up there with Tom Cruise's new kid. He's got some already...why does Suri get the box office draw? Is Suri the Kwisatz Haderach???

If Donald Trump had to clean the streets, people would gather.
This is certainly newsworthy, not so much for the fact that he is sweeping, but for the fact that he is no more above the law than anyone else.
As a public figure, it is very important he is seen, and these photos should reinforce that if you are convicted of a crime, you must do the time - famous or not.

I kind of agree with him. Leave him the hell alone and let him fulfill his community service obligations. I mean, is Boy George sweeping up trash that newsworthy?
