80s concert roadtrip!
We're taking our Stuck in the 80s podcast on the road this week -- granted it's only about 15 minutes north of here. This Saturday night, Sept. 23, we'll be recording our show from the "We Are The 80s" tour stop in Clearwater, Fla. For our local fans, it's at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
The concert features Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Loverboy and Scandal. We've already recorded an interview with Patty Smyth from Scandal and are working to get some more surprise interviews for the show.
We'll be recording on the trip to the show, from our seats and from backstage. And the best news: We'll have the show online and ready to listen to later that night.
What else can you expect from us? I'm afraid to even speculate. Now that podcast co-host Sean Daly is an award-winning critic, he might demand his own dressing room and Fritos bowl. If you're in the Tampa Bay area, come join us at the show and we'll get your voice on the podcast too.
Viva la 80s, baby.

Can you tell me when and where Patty Smyth is touring. She is the best female singer of all time in my mind.

I've seen Rick Springfield in concert twice and Eddie Money twice, both were excellent. Both work much harder than you would expect, if that makes sense. The last time I saw RS at Ruth Eckerd Hall, he didn't just make a little foray into the audience he actually sang 4 or 5 songs from the audience, walking across seat backs and over aisles. Hey, if you need a guest interviewer for Rick Springfield, hook me up! All my 8th grade dreams could come true, at the late age of 37.

Wow, first we get celebrity interviews, and now a “remote” from a concert. Stuck in the 80s crew, you are definitely kicking it up a notch. Bam!

Loverboy..remember seeing them early as a warmup for other bands..then as the headliners when they ruled some arenas. Then ..years on..I would see them when they hit the road casually to do some small club dates in Western Canada for fun...just to jam.(I think this is when they were at the very best they could be. It was magic to watch )This is when Scott was still with them...Met and hung with the band for a bit that night. Years later ..well..last year I saw them at a local mid size arena venue...and... it just wasnt the same band ..The tunes were there..but the passion seemed a bit grey..and with some exceptions..there were some jaded personalities in the band...was disappointing. I hope they have found some joy in the music again this time around.
