A podcast worth toasting
Raise a glass and enjoy our latest podcast of Stuck in the 80s -- our salute to drinking in the 80s. Click here to listen or click here to subscribe the whole series for free on iTunes.
This week's show was recorded at the Green Iguana Bar & Grille in St. Petersburg, Fla. (Special shout-out to manager Ben Horstman and our server Rob). We recorded so much material, it was difficult to cut it down to a tolerable 45 minutes. (If you enjoy the show, maybe we'll eventually use the material we trimmed out. Including the awful "Hayride to Hell with Southern Comfort and the Vomiting Sorority Girl" story.)
Meanwhile, you'll have to be content with:
-- Our favorite drinking songs from the 80s (yep, a lot of George Thorogood and Pogues).
-- The movies that fueled our thirst back in the 80s. (Queue up Arthur!)
-- A shot-by-shot description of the drinks we swilled during the show, including perhaps the first ever recorded shot of a "Screaming Orgasm."
-- Sean Daly's famous "Bladder Bust at Syracuse" story.
-- Cathy's shameful lust for Canadian rock band The Pursuit of Happiness and singer Moe Berg as well as her unnatural attachment to Spuds McKenzie.
Don't forget to download our favorite drink recipes from the 80s. Just in time for New Year's Eve. Nothing like shocking your family and friends with a tray full of Kamikaze's.
Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of the show.
Don't forget Molly!

This made me laugh so hard! Bladder Burst reminded me of Countdown night. From 7 to 8, it was 4 beers for a buck; 8-9, three beers for a buck; 9-10, 2 beers for a buck; 10-11, 1 beer for a buck. By then the table was covered in plastic cups.
Also, shots of choice: Rattlesnakes, tequila with as much Tabasco sauce as you could handle. You'd get the shots, then everyone would add Tabasco to taste.

The kamikazes are fierce, especially when you have enough to lose count.

Just so everyone knows, Producer Dave has to forfeit his Stuck in the 80s paycheck for last month for this snafu.

I had some weird problems on the 27th uploading the "Ante Up" show and it appears that I somehow dumped a copy of the show into the "Stuck..." list. I'll try (with Steve's help) to fix it and delete the show from the RSS feed.

The maestro -- who engineers our show -- also engineers the poker show. So he might have accidentally updated the wrong RSS feed. Feel free to just delete it.

Oh... The Poker podcast... When I went to Itunes to download this weeks podcast... There were 2 available... the Stuck in the 80's and a poker podcast... but after the poker podcast, it said 'Stuck In The 80's'... thought I was getting a 2-fer!!

I thought I was going to die over Sean's story. People at work thought I was crazy, tears coming down my face! The BEST Sean story ever... beats "Mama NO"!!
I was wondering where the 2ltr "California Coolers" were. At least that's what they were called in Cali when I lived there.
Great show!!! :)

Chase -- Just so you know, Cathy and Sean are total lightweights. Two drinks and they're done. Frightful.

Hey guys, great 'cast, as usual, but no B-52's? Now that was a drink "I really can't taste the alcohol...."
... and as for the pokercast thing, if you go to itunes and go to the stuck in the 80s site, the pokercast is also in there at the end, weird.

I had "Here Comes a Regular" ready to use in the podcast but couldn't find a good place for it. If we use our outtakes for another show, I'll definitely use it!

Best song about drinking not played? The Replacements 'Beer for Breakfast' or maybe 'Here Comes a Regular'...

Oh, I remember fondly the two liter size of Sun Country wine coolers! I also remember not so fondly a friend throwing hers up in the snow--it was a lovely shade of orange!
Posted by: Bgirl | December 29, 2006 at 04:16 PM
We were kicking ourselves for not mentioning wine coolers!
We talked about them endlessly before the podcast and then when we were recording we forgot. Believe me, we knew we would get busted for that.
Posted by: Cathy | December 29, 2006 at 02:39 PM
A poker podcast hijacked us? I'm not sure what you're talking about. Please explain.
Posted by: Spears | December 29, 2006 at 01:52 PM
I first thought that Cathy had gotten a head start on the drinking. Then I decided that you guys didn't drink nearly enough during the podcast.
Where were the wine coolers? The essential 80s drink for those who couldn't handle beer.
Another shot missing - Snake bites.
My bladder is a decent size until the first trip to the bathroom. Then my bladder goes home for the night and leaves me with no storage space. 1 drink, 1 visit to the can.
On another subject, How did a poker podcast hijack stuck in the 80's?
