Want to save the cost of a movie ticket?
The new romantic comedy Music & Lyrics, starring Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant, is getting luke-warm reviews, but there's one piece of it that every 80s fan will covet: The full-length video of "Pop Goes My Heart" by the fictional 80s group Pop!
Enjoy the most perfect satire of a 80s music video ... ever. (And I challenge you to get the little tune out of your head afterward.) The end of the movie shows the video again, this time with "Pop-Up Video" effects that serve as the movie's epilogue.
Now you can just skip the movie. Because I just showed you the best part.

This is a feel-good movie, that's all. Don't expect it to be super serious, but don't believe that you wont have fun watching it. It grows on you. :)
It's romantic and silly, and the music is great. This movie is kinda like The Wedding Singer, except the style of humour is less slapsticky.
If you are an 80s fan that was actually alive in the 80s, and you remember what videos were like then, you will appreciate the little "inside jokes" in this film.
Btw, I loved the Pop-Up video sequence. I used to watch that show every day. Ahhh, the good ol' days. :)

I saw the yesterday with my wife, and we liked it. Once I found out Adam Schlesinger of Foutains Of Wayne wrote most of the music, I was hooked. FOW are one of the few current artists that I think are any good, mainly because they are very 80's sounding on a lot of their tunes. The movie is no where near as bad as the review you posted. Hugh Grant and Brad Garrettmade a good client/agent team.

Ha! I especially love the MTV font used for the credits.

I don't know. It seemed a little high budget to be authentically 80's. As in, they actually had a budget. And where were the billowing curtains and slow motion birds?

Wow, that "video" had all the elements of the 80's, I love it!
But I'm still not going to see that silly movie.

I saw the movie last night. If you like Hugh Grant, by all means, go see it. Will you consider it one of his best pieces of work? Probably not.
His work with Studio Canal are his best movies.

I could so see that song as a hit in the 80's. Great spoof.
I hate to admit it, but I kind of want to se this movie. i usually like Hugh Grant's romantic comedies.

Pretty good. Kind of a combo of WHAM, Spandeu Ballet, with a little boyband action thrown in. My wife wants to go see it...she can go with her girlfriends...
