'The life of a repo man is always intense'

Repoman_2 Twenty-three years after it slipped unnoticed through movie theaters, Repo Man is back -- at least for this week's episode of Stuck in the 80s.

What? You say you've never heard of this gem? Then you're on the the wrong blog, my friend, because 1984's "Repo Man" is perhaps the decade's favorite cult flick. Emilio Estevez, Harry Dean Stanton, the Circle Jerks, a punk rock soundtrack -- this is a movie to be appreciated, cherished, enjoyed like a fine wine. Or at least swilled down in one gulf like a room-temperature can of generic beer.

What will you learn in this week's episode? Everything, including the story behind those odd car air fresheners and the endless plates o' shrimp.

Five memorable quotes from Repo Man:

5. "Credit is a sacred trust, it's what our free society is founded on. Do you think they give a damn about their bills in Russia?"

4. "The more you drive, the less intelligent you are."

3. "You gonna give me my car, or do I gotta go to your house and shove your dog's head down the toilet?"

2. "Let's go get sushi and not pay."

1. "The life of a repo man is always intense."

Tracey Walter RULES!

Oh HECK YEAH, a Real Genius podcast would be ... Really Genius! Or maybe a combined Real Genius/Weird Science 'cast?

Val Kilmer, Anthony Michael Hall, William Atherton (who recently did some Desperate Housewives and a movie called "Totally Baked: a Pot-U-Mentary") ... Robert Downy Jr., Bill Paxton ... oh, that'd be cool. Not to mention Kelly Le Brock, who can forget her recent work in the 2005 film Zerophilia, where she was credited as "Woman in RV" ...

... and as an aside, anyone notice that Florida's favorite sex offender Jeffrey Jones (Ed Rooney from "Feris") has a leading role in the "comedy" being pimped nonstop on cable TV, "who's your caddy?"

Great podcast. Made me revisit the soundtrack (which I have on cassette). Favorite tune is Pablo Picasso.

Have you done a Real Genius podcast yet?

I love that line about the more you drive ...

Another favorite, "It happens, people just explode: natural causes" .... or something like that...

Great flick, can't wait to listen to the 'cast on tomorrow's run.

I remember seeing that movie on A&E or something. Chopped up, thus making some lines ridiculous, but still good.

I have no idea about this week's tune. Guess I'm not punk enough.

So "flip you, melonfarmers!"

See, now I had a most excellent story for this podcast. Dammit. It was about one of the first parties I ever went to and I was 14 and there was much illegal activity and my friend got handcuffed to a chair by punk boys and she was crying and I made out with that kid with the mohawk who ended up puking...but, it was all funny and we were watching 'Repo Man" on TV because WE WERE PUNK ROCK.

My favorite quote.

Find one in every car. You'll see.
