Poor old Johnny Ray ...

Dexy Dexy's Midnight Runners were right when they sang about broken hearts and love gone bad -- "toora loora toora loo-rye-aye..." You said it, buster!

At least I think they're depressed. Hell, they're dressed that way and all. It's not like we could make out a single word in that song.

Enough of that. This week's Stuck in the 80s podcast has you -- our fans -- contributing your own stories and songs of tragedy. And you had some beauties. Special nods to everyone who e-mailed us with your tales of woe. We chose our seven favorite and set them to the music you suggested.

And an added bonus: We have a FEMALE guest host on this week's show. You'll have to tune in to decide whether she's truly Stuck in the 80s.

Click here to download the show. Or click here to get all our shows for free via iTunes.

And as always, drop us a comment with some feedback. And now, we return to our previously scheduled Dexy song: "You in that dress ... oh, my thoughts (I confess) ... verge on the dirty!"

Great podcast.

Jill gets my vote to fill the smoking hot female chair. She may be a bit young (to be truly "Stuck in the 80's" you had to be able to drive in the 80's), but I like the point of view she brings to the proceedings.

It's a certain "are-you-two-guys-really-serious" incredulousness that I'm sure many listeners will find endearing. And you have to admire the way she fended off your untoward weiner advances (little did I know when I woke up this morning that I'd be typing those three words!)

And I before I forget, Jill also gets my vote for recognizing the intoxicating power of a man in a Navy dress uniform.

No kidding Jeff! A navy man in his Dress Whites!!! Mmmmmm!

This is Carla, from Nashville (yes, the In Too Deep girl). And Jill.... I lived that night, I was there and have vivid memories of the activities that occured while the song was playing.. but even I needed to turn on the air conditioning while listening to your interpretation! Great Job!

Excellent podcast everybody!!

Fantastic podcast. I hope Jill will do some more with you guys. Sean, keep your homoerotic thoughts to yourself. I could feel the bile rising in my throat while you were playing 'With or Without You'. I loved that you ended with the Journey song because (thanks to your recent blog) I've been listening to a ton of Journey. Continue with your fine work, you keepers of the 80's flame!

Gee whiz Steve-o, I was shocked to hear my blog post get read on air...though i was a bit dismayed to hear guest host Jill question my integrity about making a movie. granted we are not talking about Hollywood release here, just a student film (and shot on Super 8mm no less), but there is indeed a movie I made called "The Overload" set to that utterly depressing and totally out of character Talking Heads song. I am trying to remember when I made it exactly but it was either fall of 86 or spring 87 (around the same time that I was getting jerked around by the aorta by that girl I liked so much). It is about 5 or 6 minutes long. I actually tried to remake it a few years later on 16mm, but met with disaterous results when I tried to do a "cool" slow motion effect and the sped up motor in the camera ate the film. I was a poor student and couldn't afford to buy more film to finish :(
Oh well!

I will try to digitize it shortly so you can see it for yourself in all its cheesy 80's black and white Super 8mm glory...on your computer!

oh, and yeah, that Douglas MacArthur thing got old in Grade School, man. Though, honestly it doesn't get mentioned much these days because I don't think most people under 40 even know who he is anymore.

and on that note....

I shall return,

Wow...Jill was really good! Keep her around! She is like the perfect "mediator" between you and Sean...or that great missing link. Cathy was great...but I want Jill for another round. She was a child of the 80's, if that counts for something.
