Spandau Ballet reunites ... for $4-mil

Spandauballet I know this much is true: Spandau Ballet is reforming and has said yes to a $4-million gig at a Las Vegas luxury property.

The English new romantic band, which split up in 1989, has put aside a long-simmering feud over their management to take the huge fee for playing a single show. British property developer World Capital Partners is reportedly the firm with the big checkbook.

As recently as February 2007, lead singer Tony Hadley was quoted as saying he didn't want a reunion, despite the fact that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the band's birth.

"I'm doing great without the band," Hadley told Antimusic.com. "I know you should never say never and bands in the past have said hell would freeze over before they got back together, but in our case I think hell is frozen and we still wouldn't do it."

Nothing like $4-mil to thaw things out.

It's been 24 years since Spandau Ballet's signature tune -- "True" -- hit No. 1 on the charts in 21 countries. It's been featured in more than a dozen movies and TV shows since 1983, and it's been covered and sampled by scores of other artists, including PM Dawn in "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" in 1991.

I just know Sean Daly is all atwitter at this prospect. Perhpas a re-release is on the horizon of the single True. A new CD to come across his desk for reviewing; the original but restored TRUE and a bonus track of a new version. How fast will the CD fly across his cubicle and smash into pieces? How often will Steve Spears walk by humming True?

I need coffee

I have not been to Vegas in my adult life. Roadtrip!! Hell maybe I can take my kids and they can send Sean their review.

Has anything actually been confirmed yet by the respective management yet?

Japan > Spandau Ballet

Ah.......True. One of my staples when in Korea belting out tunes for an always appreciative Korean audience.
