Favorite podcast of 2007?
Stuck in the 80s has one more show to produce (the "listener call-in" show) and then we can finally put the lid on 2007. And what a year it was.
Full of interviews, cool backstage live-blogging events, a tearful goodbye to co-host Cathy Wos, meeting some of our rock heroes in person, introducing John Waite on stage! Where do we go from here?
What we want to know from you -- the 80s nation -- is this: Which was your favorite Stuck in the 80s podcast from 2007? Here were some of ours:
The Huey Lewis interview: Not our best interview, but you had to love Sean Daly getting into a fight with Huey. "Dogs Playing Poker," Sean? Poor Huey. (Listen)
Stuck ... in the 70s: After nearly a month off the air, we set the time machine a little too far back and landed squarely in the 1970s. I still laugh at the specialized opening for the show created by our master engineer and uber-fan David Peterkofsky. (Listen)
Kenny Loggins: Who knew the guy -- Mr. Top Gun ... Sir Caddyshack ... the Pharaoh of Footloose ... would be so playful and sing for us? (Listen)
Brian Johnson interview: Our first conversation with a Rock N' Roll Hall of Famer, and he surpassed our expectations. Even if you're not an AC/DC fan, you had to enjoy Brian's sense of humor -- and his insults of U2. (Listen)
Canadian Music of the 80s: It took the help of nearly every listener north of the border to pull off this podcast, featuring Canadian DJ Stu Jeffries and a dozen songs rarely heard outside the Great White North. (Listen)
One-Hit Wonders of 1986: For some reason, we got more e-mails about this episode than any other. People just dig the Blow Monkeys, I guess. (Listen)
Genesis and Invisible Touch: Who can forget my shame at telling the "Nummy Nummy" story of lost love. Some things are better left in the 80s. (Listen)
There are many others to choose from. So drop us a comment and tell us what you loved -- or hated -- about Stuck in the 80s in 2007. And we'll get to work on another year of time travel.

I know how I'll be spending my Sunday: Reviewing 2007 Podcast style.
If you recall, I came upon this delectable blog and accompanying podcast around summertime '07. I have, in true groupy fashion, downloaded every podcast and have listened to them.
I'm surprised the Marth Quinn interview didn't get a mention from you, Steve. Is it because it was apparent you were gurgling on your own drool?
Off the top of my head I will say the 'St. Elmo's Fire' show was great. Sean's need for anger management on that one just makes me laugh so hard. Plus, I think that movie is, for the most part, a pile of turds.

Great question boys. My vote: The Brian Johnson interview. What a down to earth guy. Especially because he kept calling you guys "me son". Certainly common from his neck in the woods but endearing none the less. Martha Quinn was awesome as well as Kenny Loggins. Lastly, any podcast that Cathy had to say "puppies" gets my vote!
All the love

Dang it… one of my all time favorites JUST missed the cut off for 2007… it was the ‘Drinking in the 80’s podcast’. Sean’s bladder burst story has me in tears pretty much every time I hear it.
But from 2007… I have to say the Martha Quinn podcast is a great one. I like the Brian Johnson interview too… first he sounded like a really nice guy, and second, his story of Bono clapping on stage was priceless! Honorable mentions, The Trivia 2-part podcast was fun. The Love gone bad, Anti-Valentine show was sad… but funny! Kenny Loggings & Huey Lewis were great too! But I’d have to say my two favorites are the ‘One hit wonders of 86’ and the ‘Listener’s break up stories', both top my list.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2008!!

The Brian Johnson interview was my favorite of 2007. I have to give close runners up to Genesis, and Break-up stories.

Canada in the 80's.....not because you guys mentioned my name or anything....
NO, that couldn't be it!
Also loved Huey smacking down Sean, and Steve's Genesis heartbreak story. You should hear my U2 story of heartbreak! Sigh.

The first ones that come to mind are the Martha Quinn and Nancy Wilson interviews. Also the trivia podcasts were a lot of fun.

I still "fly a kite" any time I listen to the Nancy Wilson podcast. Wow. Incredible.

All righty! I have compiled my top 5 list with an honorable mention. This was not easy, but it was a lot of fun having a day of Steve and Sean and an occasional Cathy.
1. Podcast 99~One Hit Wonders of 1986 ~ Why? We learn which songs were playing when Sean and Steve lost their virginity. I can't hear "Hold Me Now" or "Midnight Blue" without getting an awkward visual of how it might have been.
2. Podcast 104~Most Depressing Songs according to Sean Daly ~ Why? I laughed so incredibly hard at this particular sausage hang. Plus, it marks the first time Sean ever responded to one of my emails.
3. Podcast 85~St. Elmo's Fire~ Why? I am not a fan of this movie and, moreso, hearing Sean go into a fit of rage just gets me laughing hysterically.
4. Podcast 103~Interview with Tim Herlihy~ Why? This is the best movie about the 80s not made in the 80s. Steve interviewing someone who is that close to his man crush, Adam Sandler, is priceless.
5. Podcast 100~100th Episode~Why? Because it's a non-stop, laugh out loud funny recap of the thing we all salivate about: Stuck in the 80s Podcast. Well, I salivate.
My honorable mention: Podcast 107~ Dedicated to Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot~ Why? Because my voice mail greeting was used and it was my first shout out from Steve and Sean ...and what a glowing shout out it was!

I have to admit, I haven't listened to every 2007 podcast (most, but not all), but I'm not one to let a little thing like limited knowledge of the subject matter come between me and a strongly held opinion:
5: One Hit Wonders of 1986: The first podcast I listened to when I stumbled onto the blog doing research for my radio show. A great introduction.
4. Martha Quinn: Not necessarily the guys' best work (unless they give Pulitzers for starry-eyed puppy love), but it's Martha freakin' Quinn, the absolute face of our favorite decade.
3. 100th Show: I'm not sure if it's fair to include a clip show in my "best of" list (sort of like when they give an Emmy to the previous year's Emmy show), but there's no denying it's a great one.
1. (tie) Sean's Most Depressing Songs/Fans Sad Stories: I consider these two podcasts companion pieces, sort of like the "special two-part episodes" of our favorite 80's TV shows ("Tonight, on a very special 'Punky Brewster...'")
Sean's Sad Song List seemed to inspire both the guys to share stories they would never bust out if there was a woman in the room. And the fact that it included my fan greeting certainly speaks to my solipsistic world view (go ahead and look it up, I'll wait).
And since I do love me some schadenfreude (I hope you kept that dictionary handy), listening to everyone's sad, sad stories was like having an extra birthday.
Looking forward to a great 2008!

My favorite epsiode was the Martha Quinn interview. Seconf favorite is any "One Hit Wonders of" show. Love hearing a song and saying "I remember that".
Do we all realize that with each passing year, the 80's are getting further in the past? Or am I just geting old?

I guess my vote is a selfish one. I'd have to go with the last show I worked on which was the Huey Lewis interview. You guys have made me proud this year and the show just keeps getting better. Keep it going guys. The 80s Nation is counting on you!! ;)
