10 minutes of total bliss
In a failed quest to find a trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie, I ran across this far cooler video today: A compilation of music video highlights for each year of the 80s.
Let's see the fans of 70s or 90s music come up with something that cool. Give it up, guys. It's all 80s here.

Relive the music, movies and culture of the greatest decade ever with Times online editor Steve Spears. A teen during the decade, Steve is obsessed with everything from Duran Duran to Journey, John Hughes to John Cusack, and parachute pants to Reaganomics.
E-mail Steve Spears:

Yummy! Rick Springfield close up!
Michael Jackson with a nose (not included in the yummy)
Every Breath You Take was #1 on my 18th Birthday.
I could probably tell a story relating to every song on this clip video. I don't dare bore anyone with details.
I saw Richard Marx open for REO Speedwagon. Nose bleed seats, but excellent from start to finish.
Thanks Steve!

I don't know about total bliss. the first two from 1983 made me want to hurl (of course I'm sick so that could have added to it). They chose some of the lamer hits of the era for a lot of it (ie. Madonna).

Video raises an interesting question, and the topic for a podcast ... which year of the 80s was the "most 80s" ...
discuss.
Judging from this video, I'd say maybe '83 or '84 ....

Hey gang,
Big news. I just found out that after the Night Ranger concert at the Ruth Eckerd Hall, Jack Blades and crew are getting on a plane and coming to Guantanamo Bay! January 25th for one night only.

Chase, I'll play your game, you rogue...
I think it's 84 in a landslide: Thriller, Purple Rain, Born In The USA, Like A Virgin, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 49ers (begrudgingly the decades most dominant sports franchise) were champions, Michael Jordan and Eddie Murphy transcendant, Andrew "Dice" Clay, uh, not.

That's awesome news, Jeff!

I was just going through the top songs of the respective years in the 80's to figure out which year was the best one. Face it guys, the entire friggin' decade rocked. So in my eyes, we are the winners, the entire "Stuck in the 80's" family. Thanks to Steve, Sean and their bevvy of beauties.

I came of age in the 60's and (in theory) my favorite music should be from the 60's, but when adding music to my iPod I learned somewhat to my surprise that the music of the 80's wins, hand down, over the 60's and every other decade before or since.

That should have been "hands down," but with one hand on the mouse, the other hand won.

Great stuff, indeed, but two qualms:
The Warrant song had no place in that group. Just isn't as good as the rest, IMO.
It was missing the classic Simple Minds "Don't You Forget About Me"! That's a definitive 80's song.

and unless I blinked or went comatose I didn't see any Duran Duran! What's up with that? The ever controversial Girls on Film
but you know what I didn't make the video collection someone else did... definetly missing a few but altogether not too bad
