Def Leppard needs a new album title

Defleppard1 It must be a good day for album announcements. Shortly after Asia's news of their first disc in 25 years, Def Leppard said today they have completed work on a new studio album, which is expected to be released early this year.

The disc -- the band's first since 2002's "X" -- has the tentative title of "Songs from the Sparkle Lounge," according to Pollstar.com.

In addition, the band will support the album with a world arena tour with supporting acts Styx and REO Speedwagon. Presale for tickets begins today. More information is available on the band's official website.

The tour kicks off March 27 in Greensboro, N.C. (the same spot Van Halen chose for their reunion tour). Their second stop -- March 29 at the Hard Rock in Hollywood -- is the band's only Florida stop scheduled so far. (Click here for full list of dates.)

Proposed new album title:

"Smell the Glove"

what say?

"Sparkle" and Def Leppard just DO NOT go together? Is Rainbow Brite on the cover? Still would love to catch their show though...Love me some Joe Elliot.

"Smell the Glove" -- HA! That's awesome.

I'm trying to figure out why poor Rick Allen is relegated to being stuck in the back of that photo -- it almost looks like they forgot to tell him when the shoot was and he ran in at the last minute.

Songs From the Sparkle Lounge?
Where did they get their inspiration? Tales Of The Gold Monkey? or Kingdom Of The Crystal Skulls?

how about Sucktopia? or Skankopolis? or Diptheria? (given their proclivity for naming albums with words that end in "ria")

"Mama, No"
"Miami Spice"
"Phil"

Sparkle? Why not just call it "FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABULOUS"?

Or, in keeping with the "ria" theme, "Geriatria"?

I'm going with the 'ia' and 'ize' theme themes they have used in the past:
Anorexia
Hypothermia
Phobia
Bastardize
Homogenize

Thanks for that, Greg. I was sitting here trying to think of "geriatrics" for 5 minutes.

Jane,

Drummers always get the shaft,
but I am guessing that they didn't want to remind people that he still only had one arm.

Not very rock and roll, I guess

Though, didn't legendary guitarist Django Reinhart only have 3 fingers on one hand??

Good point, Douglas. I'm preferring to think, though, that he just forgot to wear his Union Jack dolphins and tank and thus had to be hidden in the back.

You are right -- I'm thinking Django Reinhardt had either paralyzed or badly damaged fingers -- didn't hinder his amazing ability one bit, as far as I can hear.

Just off the top of my head, how about these:

"Synchronize"
"Metabolize"
"Want Some Fries"
"Characterize"
"Break Like The Wind" or has that been taken?

I really haven't liked any of their studio stuff since Pyromania. They went from a great hard rock group to a mediocre pop group. It is a shame. I thought High N Dry is one of the best hard rock albums out there. They completely sold out on Hysteria. They went for one segment of the audience and that audience ate it up. And what has happened to Vivian Campbell?? He used to be a great guitarist and now he just sucks.

The album title doesn't sound rocking at all. Not sure what title they could come up with.

And the photo looks like from the Pyromania era. So, I would assume that Rick Allen had all his limbs at that time.
