Wa wa wa wa ... Walk me, Amadeus!
Even if I wasn't stuck in the 80s, I'd say this with pride: I really love the music of Falco. And I think "Rock Me Amadeus" is one of the purest sources of the 80s sound available on the planet.
If my cell phone were modern enough to accommodate ring tones, every call to me would go "Su-su-su-su-superstar ... superstar ... Ro-ro-ro-ro-rock me!"
But do I worship the Austrian popster enough to dedicate not one but two sets of staircases to him?
Following the lead of the city of Vienna, which dedicated a set of stairs to the pop star after his death in 1998, some self-proclaimed "interventionists" in San Francisco recently have decided a city staircase should bear the name of the musician. Click here to see the signs from both cities.
I know what Falco would say to this: Fantastiche!

Gotta love "Der Kommissar"! The German version is light years better than After the Fire's.

Have Austrians slapped monikers on so many edifices that they're down to naming staircases? What's next, the Kurt Waldheim Speed Bump?
By the way, if you ever visit the Peruvian National Police Riverine Base on the Amazon at Sinchicuy, you'll find a sewage lift station dedicated to me.
Seriously.

Wow, I've been called names that are synonomous with sewage, but that takes the cake!

Isn't the Kurt Waldheim Speed Bump near the Billy Wilder Lamp Post and the Gustav Mahler Manhole Cover?
If it's not, it should be.

I thought it was closer to the Von Trapp Family Bike Rack, but I could be thinking of the Franz Klammer Turn Arrow.

Maybe. The Franz Klammer Turn Arrow is in the same roundabout as the Kafka Yield Sign and Hedy Lamarr Cab Lane. So I can see why that might be confusing.

I'll take your word for it. I never get over to that side of town becuase of the traffic in the Schwarzenegger Carpool Lane.

Forget serving our country, Commander Jeff... we need to pack up our families and move to Vienna to become city planners. They would love us.

Vienna.....beautiful city, but coldest people out there. Seriously. They need to get friendly! Ironic that the U.N. HQ is there.
