Indiana Jones and the Land of Endless Publicity

Indiana_jones_poster The poster for the new Indiana Jones movie has been released by Paramount Pictures/LucasFilm. Just in time, I presume, to remind us to start budgeting $125 for tickets, popcorn and the two-disc special edition DVD just in time for the holidays.

Land_of_the_lost And is it just me or the "crystal skull" in the poster look like a sleestak from "Land of the Lost"?

If Indiana Jones can also find Marshall, Will and Holly, then maybe I'll go see this movie after all.

This would be a good time to break out my favorite Sleestak trivia question:

What 80's sports figure played a Sleestak during the first season of "Land of the Lost"?

Is it me, or does the guy in the beret look like Ron Jeremy?

Dude, I really don't get your hate for Indiana Jones. Seriously. The trailer was great, the poster is harmless. You defend some of the biggest turds of the '80s -- new Kajagoogoo tour? AWESOME! -- and yet you crap on this? Is there something you're not telling us? I dunno, man. Doesn't make sense.

To answer your question Jeff, I believe it was Bill Laimbeer who played a Sleestak. Is it just me that hated Cha-ka?

It's just that Karen Allen promised me she'd stay home with our kids instead of running away with her old beau Harrison again. I'm heart-broken.

I never knew that about Laimbeer -- HATE that guy (or at least the way he played basketball.) That's a riot.

They had a showing of Animal House in Chicago with many of the cast members, Flounder, Boon, Nedermyer, I am probably spelling these name wrong. So they do a Q and A before the movie, then they come out into the audience and Karen Allen is about 10 feet away from me and they show the preview for the new Indiana Jones movie and Karen Allen said she has not seen it yet. I thought that was so cool. The whole audience gave her a big applause after the preview. It was really cool, oh and Flounder then said "ohhhhhhh boyyyyy is this great!!!!!!!" Very funny.

I thought the same thing about the skull.

Did you know they only had three Sleestak costumes?

Hope this Indy flick is a hit. However, after watching the trailer, I do have concerns that the movie is going down the same path that Die Hard 4 did -- heavy reliance on computer-generated imagery to prop up a too old to be believable action hero and a weak storyline. For example, the scene of the two cars driving along the cliff's edge (01:26) looks really fake.

Uhm, man. Hmmm. Yeah. Wow. Let's see. ::blink::

I got nuthin'

I think Madonna looks like a Sleestak or maybe one of those alien drawings with the almond eyes. Hey, what's that got to do with Indy?

I just hope it's not another Temple Of Doom.

Oh smack....I had some serious 3rd grade anxiety over Land of the Lost circa 1977, second on the panic attack scale only to Dr. Shrinker (he's a madman with an evil mind, y'know). After seeing that Sleestak pic, I'll be under my desk all day in a fetal position.
