Monday morning mailbag

Every e-mail to Stuck in the 80s gets an answer -- it's our policy 'round these parts. (Sorta like how Chik-Fil-A's drive-thru people say "My Pleasure!" instead of "You're Welcome!") Here are a couple from this week:

Hi Steve, just wondering if anyone covered the Queensryche show at the Tampa Theatre. I was hoping to catch your review. It was my first time seeing Queensryche, and I was rather impressed.  -- Brian

Hey Brian -- Nah, I missed that one. To be honest, I was never a big Queensryche fan. But a co-worker who saw the show said it was outstanding. These days there are so many '80s-era acts touring that it's hard to see them (aka "afford them") all. I skipped the Go-Go's for example, but got to Van Halen. Pretty sure you can count on me seeing They Might Be Giants next week. But anyone is welcome to write up a short review of a concert and send it to me. I'll post it on the blog.

I'm holding an 80s party and someone informs me that you can hire a computer which has 80s music already downloaded. Do you know of any sites please? -- Sandy

Wow, that's a great idea. There's one Web site I use all the time at work to listen to specific songs. It's imeem.com, and it allows you to play songs and build playlists for free. Only catch is that you have to listen to the songs streaming over the Web. No downloading.

I'm not quite sure how I found your site or your podcasts, but as of two weeks ago I did.  And I'm hooked. Great shows guys! I noticed iTunes only has up to show #100.  Will you be placing more there or will they be featured exclusively on the Tampa Bay site? -- Gary

Hopefully iTunes will catch up. However, if you subscribe to the show via iTunes (or any similar podcast RSS feed), you will get each new show automatically delivered to you -- no what what number episode it is. Our next show -- episode 117 -- will be uploaded to iTunes on Tuesday morning.

Hey Steve - speaking of email. I've been using the link off the top of the blog to try to send an email, but it keeps bouncing back. Probably something on my end, but was wondering if anyone else had this problem last night or this AM?

David-b, I'm redirected immediately, however not to Steve's email.
I'm taken to a website that ... Oh my goodness! What are those people doing?!

Before I get in trouble, I'm taken to my yahoo mail page when I click the link.

Hey David -- I just tested it and it worked fine. But if anyone else has problems, please leave me a message here.

Another recommendation for streaming music is to check out the radio stations section on iTunes. No playlist control, but you get the surprise of not knowing what's next. I've been turned back on to a couple of forgotten classics listening to this. It's kinda like listening to the radio was back in the day, except without the commercials and chatter.

BREAKING NEWS!

The mighty VH Tour is CANCELLED!

Al, you sharp newshound you -- I just caught wind of that tidbit of news myself...

Here's another link with speculation about a reason for the cancellation:

Sorry, thanks Bassman. I didn't have time running out the door this morning, to post a link.

Thank goodness I got to see Dave and the boys before Eddie went crazy!

Thanks for the compliment Jane......us newshounds have to keep our eyes open.
