Sneak peak at Lost Boys 2: The Tribe

I'm left speechless by the newly released trailer for Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. Looks like a sequel to our beloved '80s classic -- if done by the WB Network.

And what's with the vampires wearing the Cobra Kai skeleton outfits? A tribute to The Karate Kid or something?

Corey Feldman returns as one of the vamp-fighting Frog bothers, and from what little we see of him in the trailer, it looks like he's there for PR purposes only.

"I went to every length possible to make sure that I was emulating the appearance and the feel and the character as closely as possible to the first film," Feldman told MTV.com in an interview. "This guy hasn't changed in 20 years. He looks exactly like we remember him looking, other than he's got some neck tattoos, but that's the only physical difference."

But even MTV wondered aloud if this sequel was worthy of the big screen or doomed to spend eternity on a shelf at Blockbuster. Feldman was of little help. "No one seems to have that answer," he conceded.

Sometimes it's better to leave sleeping vampires to slumber on.

Comments

I've already written off the movie (Here's my suggested tagline: "All the fun, with half the Coreys") However, I still hold on to the hope that there will be a decent soundtrack.

Have you heard anything?

This just screams 'straight to DVD' to me. Someone should have put a stake in this one during development.

Bad... just plain bad.

Who are they putting this movie out for? Don't get me wrong, I loved The Lost Boys (well mostly the Lost Girl, Ms. Gertz) but if they put that exact movie out now, the teens today would laugh it out of the theatres. And I don't see nostalgia and high hopes for what Santa Carla might be like 20 years later driving those of us who loved the original into the theatres in droves. So, a sequel? A weak one at that? That's like giving me a glass of seltzer water with some wine in it and saying, "doesn't this taste just like those Seagrams Golden Wine Coolers you used to like back in the 80's?" No. No, it doesn't. Thanks, though. Thanks for littering that block of memory lane. What's next a sequel to 'Night of the Comet'? How about we dig up 'Beetlejuice' for another go?

Considering that both Coreys were more than willing to do a sequel, this is a complete travesty. I love the original, and I'm sure they could have gathered up a lot of cast members for a sequel much better than what this looks like. Why they didn't is beyond me but I for one will not be watching this movie.

Hey, look on the brightside. Maybe they'll compile a really great soundtrack!

Did Feldman not look like he was twelve years old in that trailer? Bizarre!

Will probably suck but I kinda got chill when "Cry Little Sister" started playing. Feldman seriously looks about 5 years older from the first movie. The kinda freaks me out. Haim looks sorta terrible nowadays....wonder how he fair in the movie.
