Wearing your 80s pride
St. Patrick's Day is easily the favorite holiday of any '80s fan. It's all about the beverages -- pure and simple -- and you don't even have to buy a greeting card. And now, 80stees.com -- the website that sells t-shirts decided to our favorite decade -- is joining in the spirit.
That's right, 80s-themed t-shirts to celebrate St. Patty's. (Of course, if you want the real Scarface shirt, that's available too.)
The company's website has TV shirts that go with movies, music, TV shows, video games and even junk food from the 80s. I'm not sure whose job it is to think up ideas for the shirts, but I consider that occupation a beloved public service, right up there with providing health care for the homeless or fetching the shopping carts outside the grocery story.
And if you want to be more subtle -- green, but not Irish -- check out this little baby from Caddyshack. If you end up wearing this shirt on March 17, I'm not saying people won't stare and give you curious looks. But at least this year it won't be because you shot green beer out your nose.

Relive the music, movies and culture of the greatest decade ever with Times online editor Steve Spears. A teen during the decade, Steve is obsessed with everything from Duran Duran to Journey, John Hughes to John Cusack, and parachute pants to Reaganomics.
E-mail Steve Spears:

Best St. Pat's shirt ever, as far as I'm concerned:

Wonder how much play this would get me on March 17 here in FL...

I would think that, given the age demographics of our female fan base here, I'd figure the "Cougar" shirt from Top Gun might be popular.

Did someone say 'cougar'?
Five words for you: Chicago on St. Patrick's Day.

Can't help it if this cougar is a die-hard Celts fan. Wonder if there's a shirt featuring that sentiment...

Jane, a lot of t-shirt sites let you design your own. Something to think about.
Oh, warm apple strudel scone. Yum!

HA! Warm blueberry muffin with a couple of sprays of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter... yum yum!
I might have to wander over to cafe press and explore my Celt-Lovin' Cougar options. Thanks for the tip, Miss Riss.

On the subject of t-shirts...
After a bit of finagling I've managed to get my hands on a limited supply of the hard-to-find "Radio GTMO" t-shirts.
Is anyone interested in acquiring one?

Jeff!
You oughta offer those babies up for the contest winners on Stuck in the 80s podcast. Perhaps Steve could come up with a killer trivia question in order to win the highly coveted shirts.

Riss,
Fear not; Steve and I are already discussing contest possibilities.
Stay tuned...

Hey Jane (and other cougars)
The retro graphics made me think of your photo collage header.

awesome!!! check out their Celtics* t shirts, so perfect!
*for you young 'uns out there, the Celtics totally ruled the NBA in the 80s (then kinda went dormant for 15 years or so)

I've bought shirts from them before. I like to wear them to family dinners and freak out my relatives. They're also obligatory wardrobe for any 80s Video Night party I throw at home.

Love the Tee's so classic

Dave80s, you rock. I ordered that "Kiss Me I'm a Celtics Fan" shirt. Just because. If there had been one with the Big Three (Bird, McHale, Parrish) I would have grabbed it too.
And by the way, that Celtics dormancy totally started, IMO, the day Len Bias died.

Being the Irishman that I am (my grandparents on my father's side are right off the boat from the Emerald Isle), I have some St. Patrick'sDay buttons that I wear for the special day. My favorite has a picture of a drunken leprechaun and the heading, "St. Patrick Is Alive And Well At Murphy's Bar".
