« Tom Waits goes paperless for tour | Main | Indiana Jones podcast? ... "You go first" »

Guess who's coming to Tampa Bay...

Missing_persons This summer's biggest 80s show -- The Regeneration Tour -- has announced it will play Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall on Aug. 30.

And yes, that's the same tour that a handful of Stuck in the 80s fans -- myself included -- are flying across the country to see on Aug. 2 in Las Vegas. (Surely there are other things to do in that town, right? Aside from getting "Ione Skye" tattooed across my chest.)

The lineup for the Clearwater show is slightly different than other stops on the tour. The Human League, Belinda Carlisle and Dead or Alive won't be on this leg. Instead, Missing Persons, the Romantics and A Flock of Seagulls will join ABC and Naked Eye. Personally, I think the lineup is just as good for the local show.

You know that what means: I'll definitely be up for watching that show again later that month. So anyone up for coming down to Tampa Bay that weekend, give me a holler.

Oh Spearsy, you're such a party boy, now. How could one ever keep up with you?

I wonder if the Romantics still wear the red, shiney leather/vinyl suits. Mmm middle aged men in tight pants. Count me in!

By the way, "What I Like About You" was one of the songs I tossed out on anthem chat night.

Stuck in the 80s; stuck in my head, "I hear the secrets that you keep...when you're talking in your sleep."

Rumor has it that the Regeneration Tour hits West Palm Beach on Aug. 31 with 10,000 Maniacs and Tommy Tutone on the bill.

Crank up the family roadster, honey! We're going on a Florida roadtrip! I call shotgun!!!

If you're going to South Florida, I suggest you not only call "shotgun" but you should bring one with you as well.

I am not up on my Florida geography. I'm lucky to get out of my backyard. And stop throwing cold water on my fantasies. They're all I have ::sniffle::

I'm totally there for the Ruth Eckerd Hall show! Marissa, you gotta make the trip and I'll explain all the Florida geography for ya. Speaking of middle aged men in leather pants...Mike Reno of Loverboy leaps to mind when that phrase is thrown about..I saw him at Ruth Eckerd last year and he's rather..."expansive" now, and not in any sort of good way.

Oh, you're not lying, Sherrie. I saw him on some VH1 show.

I'll do my best to rummage through family couch cushions and cup holders to rally up the funds. To accomplish this, I imght have to start charging to view photos like the one SD posted yesterday.

August 30th? Missing Person?? Steve, whether you like it or not, we are going to be 80's regeneration tour drinking buddies. I call the coach.

MinA

I call the couch, coach!

Does the Econo Lodge have a jacuzzi tub? And not the Eddie Murphy kind, either. Phhhhttttt

I worry a little about the Romantics' set list. Do they just do 15-minute dance versions of their two hits?

Hey, enough Wild Turkey in anyone's system ~ well, mine anyway ~ can make "What I Like About You" seem like a symphony.

Spearsy, this one is for you.

MinA, you could totally rock the 'do.

Marissa,

thanks for the 'do compliment! I'd need to grow my chia pet for about 3 years to get that look!

Ha! Chia Pet. Cha-cha-cha chia

I'm still trying to swing Devo in Boston on June 28th, and that's a lot closer. But it looks good for Adrian Belew (Whose guitar was all over the 80's)

Another great show - Steve, wouldn't that be a chance to finally do a podcast on A Flock Of Seagulls???
Another great tour takes places in the UK in Nov/December: The Steel City Tour featuring ABC, Heaven 17 and Human League...
as always, such tour never take place in mainland Europe :(((((
