I don't like ... Bon Jovi?

Check out this rare video of the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" -- featuring a duet with Bob Geldof and Jon Bon Jovi:

Seemed like a good for today. But it's not the most bizarre duo I found today. Here's Bon Jovi and Pavarotti singing "Let It Rain." Want to stretch it a little more? Try Bryan Adams singing "O Sole Mio" with Pavarotti -- and he's fantastic.

Comments

Jon needed to leave a little of the leather off in "Let it Rain" ~ Still, pretty interesting combo.

I love how Pavarotti and Bryan look like they are having quite a good time sharing the stage.

Julio Iglesias and Willie Nelson -- "To All the Girls I've Loved Before"

I mean, yikes.

Does this mean that a Michael Buble/Trent Reznor collaboration is not far behind?

Speaking of Reznor, we should add Head Like A Hole to our anthem list since Pretty Hate Machine released in 1989. And that song rocks. (Further 80's connection...Devo covered it for the SuperCop soundtrack in '95)

The only thing better than a Buble/Reznor collaboration would be a Josh Groban/Reznor collaboration.

Although given Mr. Groban's hysterical contribution to the Jimmy Kimmell/Ben Affleck video, such a pairing wouldn't surprise me, now that I think about it.

I'm torn on on the Geldof/Bon Jovi pairing. Something just seems unholy there.

Oh yeah, it's Bon Jovi.

Speaking of strange bedfellows, be sure to check out the version of "Redemption Song" that Joe Strummer recorded with Johnny Cash not long before they both passed. Bizarre as it might have been, I feel that pairing worked.

Which album is that on Tonianne? I have been looking for it, but haven't found it.

"I Don't Like Mondays" with these two actually sounds better live in my opinion! But that's just me.

Barcelona by Queen and Montserat Caballé is by far my favorite rock/opera duet and no one thought it would work. Freddie was fabulouso on that song!

Douglass, as far as I know it was only released as a 12" single.

Douglas/Bassnote - It is on the 5 disc box set "Unearthed," which also contains terrific versions of "Wayfaring Stranger," "Wichita Lineman," and "Heart of Gold."

Oh goody! It's on iTunes.
