Madonna fans are suckers

I'll never understand the enduring attraction to Madonna. And after this blog item, I might stop trying. (Even though her apologists will never go away.)

Madonna threw a free concert Wednesday night at New York's Roseland Ballroom, a quaint 2,000-person venue. According to the New York Times, fans waited in line as long as 60 hours for a chance to see her perform -- for 30 ... whole ... minutes.

Plus, if you believe at least one celeb gossip website, she may have been lip-syncing or music-syncing portions of the show. "What Would Tyler Durden Do" -- easily one of the most profane (ie. hilarious) websites out there, posts a short video of the show with this helpful hint: "Just let this clip load all the way then skip to 1:50 because that's when Madonna awesomely stops singing yet you can still hear her singing."

Nice "live" show. From the "Material Girl" to the "Artificial Filler Girl" in just 20 years.

Comments

Thank you for post yet another reason why I hate Madonna, and stop putting her picture on you blog. Next time just put up a cartoon or something (wait... Madonna has become a cartoon version of herself, so that won't work either).

I know, I know. Hopefully no more photos. I get a sick feeling whenever I see a concert shot of her.

But, but, but -- JT performed with her! That's got to count for something!

(Yes, my eyes are rolling as I write this. And my tongue is in my cheek...)

I'm a fan of her early stuff -- still listen to her '80s catalog regularly. And while I cannot totally blame her for trying to remain relevant, it's just not working.

I *WAS* a Madonna fan, back in the "Lucky Star" and "Holiday Era," though that ended LONG AGO, once she adopted her fake British accent and I decided she was just a ho.

My roommate is still a fan, especially the collaborations with William Orbit, though I do not allow her "music" to be played in the house. I can't stand the sight or sound of her.

All right! Madonna-haters unite!

I became a regular reader of "What Would Tyler Durden Do" site after Steve first mentioned the blog several months ago. It's great.

For those that have never visited the site, it is a hilarious way to keep up with your favorite celebratard.

If you like it, give "Film Drunk" a try. Film Drunk gives the movie industry the WWTDD treatment.

BTW: I also strongly dislike Madonna.

y four year old nephew has been telling me that "hate" is a bad word, so I've been trying to replace it with "dislike". My new nephew is kind of like Yoda in that regard.

Hate leads to the dark side, after a quick stop at suffering.

/please forgive me geekness

Okay Steve - you hate Madonna, yet you devote your valuable webspace to her current (i.e. non-80s) persona at least monthly. Let 'er go Steve...the Madonna we knew and loved in the 80s is gone! Post some John Cusack news - he has a new movie coming out I think!

I have a love-hate relationship with Esther. Every once in awhile she does something amazing, like the "Ray of Light" album...it was brilliant from start to finish. And then she goes and does something like "Hard Candy", which you can stream on Imeem, and it's just awful through and through.

However, the concert was free, or so I hear. And love her or hate her, she always puts on a great show, some better than others, but never boring.

She cracks me up with her Courtney Love posturing though. Watch her strike every cliched guitar pose ever imagined. It's as if she thinks she really knows how to play that thing. But at least it's a change up from all that crotch thrusting.

Actually, I do have some Cusack news. Stay tuned.
