The Dice Man returneth
He may have an overall lower popularity rate than George W., but give Andrew Dice Clay credit: The chain-smoking comic has rabidly loyal fans and still can sell out clubs and theaters whenever he tours.
That's probably why we're about to get another dose of the Diceman this summer. Clay is playing the Tampa Theatre on June 27 as part of Ruth Eckerd Hall's "On The Road" series of events. Tickets go on sale noon, May 9.
Clay sold out Tampa's Side Splitters Comedy Club last July -- even though tickets started at $100. This time around, with the venue a little larger, a seat costs $49.50.
Stuck in the 80s interviewed Clay last time around, and we let him say whatever came to mind -- resulting in a podcast that carries an "adult-language" warning. Click here to listen to the show or click here to subscribe for free on iTunes.

3. "Ya know, I used to have it all figured out. It's like women changed when I had my back turned." (Casual Sex)

1. "Love's a bitch, Duck. Love's a bitch." (Pretty in Pink)

Relive the music, movies and culture of the greatest decade ever with Times online editor Steve Spears. A teen during the decade, Steve is obsessed with everything from Duran Duran to Journey, John Hughes to John Cusack, and parachute pants to Reaganomics.
E-mail Steve Spears:

Ya gotta hand it to the guy. He seems to have embraced the fact that he's a charicature of himself. "Casual Sex? is a pretty funny movie.
"It was the early 80s and sex was still a good way to meet new people."
"Okay, when I first met Vinny, I thought, this guy is a living argument for birth control. But as I get to know him better, I realize he's just like the rest of us: a mess."

I'll admit that I pretty much took the Nora Dunn attitude towards the Diceman back when his arc of infamy was at its apex. So when I consulted IMDb just now to look at his career achievements, imagine my surprise to see not one, but two appearances on "Diff'rent Strokes" as the excellently named "Crazy Larry."
It truly is a small '80s world after all.
