« 'Square Pegs' finally wins popularity contest | Main | Retro-review: "This is my moment" »

Drop the weapon and play 'It's Only Love'!

Tina Tina Turner is ready to make her comeback (again) and is plotting her first tour in nearly a decade.

According to the Reuters news service, the 68-year-old Turner decided to give it another go  after friend and film legend Sophia Loren told her it was "time to hit the road again."

( I would have guessed that seeing Syesha Mercardo doing a Halloween-esque version of "Proud Mary" on "American Idol" would have been reason enough to return. Please, wash that performance from our minds.)

The tour begins Oct. 1 in Kansas City and continues through Dec. 8 in Montreal. Only two Florida dates are currently listed: Nov. 2 in Fort Lauderdale and Nov. 5 in Orlando. Click here to see the full list.

Tina owned the 80s, recording 25 songs that hit the charts either in the U.S. or abroad. Still, my personal favorite Tina moment? No, not a song. Her role as "Aunty Entity" in 1985's "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome."

"You know the law: Two men enter, one man leaves."

Funny. I could take that so many places, but I'll just chuckle to myself.

Tina proved that age is just a number with her performance during the Grammys this year. The outfit she wore was heinous, but sister still has it goin' on.

I have to say that Tina Turner was one of the few pop stars that did not embarrass herself in an acting roll in the 80s. I thought her performance as Aunty Entity was great. She also shows up in The Last Action Hero in a bit roll (too bad it was in the 90s).

There was another song that she did for the Mad Max movie called 'One Of The Living'. I liked it better than '...Another Hero' because it was a rocker.

Excellent call, Bassnote. So great that i had to immediately see if it's on imeem. It is.

I would much rather have a new album than a very limited tour. How long has it been since we had a album with new material? Was it twenty-four seven?

Dang it, she's not coming near my neck of the woods. I so wanted to be Tina Turner when I grew up...until I saw the movie they made about her and all the crap she went through to get where she was. Nope, I'll stay a geeky white girl. You go Tina!!

Steven,
Are you trying to suggest that you didn't want Syesha to win? Be honest, now. She lives a half hour away. That would have been huge for you.

And don't tell me you didn't think that dress she wore wasn't amazing. I know you too well...

I used to love Tina Turner as a child but anytime I hear of a comeback it usually ruins some of the memories. It may be me as I'm older and things sounds differently but it could be the singer's change over the years.
