Name that 80s tune: 'Tesla Girls'
Wondering what that mystery tune was in last week's Stuck in the 80s podcast?
It's "Tesla Girls" by the vastly underrated Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, from their 1984 album "Junk Culture."
It's a shame that in the United States, OMD is pretty much known only for "If You Leave." I wouldn't even put that song in their top 5 tunes.
Here were last week's Stuck in the 80s Name that 80s tune winners: Derek Lane-Waters of Rochester Hills, Mich.; Anibal Rodriguez, Dennis from Germany, and Brad Williams from L.A.
Stay tuned for a new podcast episode later today: The dreaded "Vegas Recap" edition.

Relive the music, movies and culture of the greatest decade ever with Times online editor Steve Spears. A teen during the decade, Steve is obsessed with everything from Duran Duran to Journey, John Hughes to John Cusack, and parachute pants to Reaganomics.
E-mail Steve Spears:

OMD was actually the first band I ever saw live. They opened for Depeche Mode in 1988.

You know, I was going to ask about the piercing story, but now...I think some things are better just left alone.

i told you steve. the "old vegas" experience is about getting in touch with your inner FRANCIS albert.
how you misinterpreted that as your inner PRINCE albert, i'll never understand.

Stacey and I just listened to the Vegas podcast and we could not stop laughing. I think it was one of your best podcasts (and I'm not just sayin' that because we were mentioned).
We really enjoyed hearing the beginning of the VGF story, too.

My nipples are still very sore.
And that's not even where the piercings were.

This explains Steve sobbing on the plane back, doesn't it?

Sincerely, I am happy for Spearsy. One never knows when love will strike. I guess that's the beauty of it.
From the bottom of my heart I hope lady luck stays with you from Vegas and beyond.

My thoughts about the trip:
FRIGGIN' AWESOME time!
The trip had it all:
- great, great, great people
- great food
- great 80's music
- great atmosphere
- great amounts of eye candy
- great amounts of alcohol
- great amounts of money spent at the Glitter Gulch
- great amounts of time NOT sleeping
the list goes on...
Oh and NO video!
My brothers and sisters to know what happened in Vegas only means that one has to experience Vegas when we go again. Soon, very soon, period.
Love the comments Doug Arthur....
True Story....this morning I woke-up to get the kids breakfast and get them going for soccer. About 0830....I hear echoing from my son's room.....ENOLA GAY...no kidding....he has the song as his ring tone. I love my friggin' kids....I'm doing something right.

Enola Gay from Urgh! is one of the better tracks from that already awesome soundtrack.
Why would the Vegas Poddy be dreaded? I have been looking forward to it since before you left. Is is scandalous for some reason? Secret dirt that should have stayed in Vegas? Did you and Sean secretly get hitched by lesbian hooker Elvis impersonator? Was there a Crying Game moment? Were lines crossed and nest eggs lost?
Is there a trail of tears and a boulevard of broken hearts?
Everything's coming up craps, here on the Poddy!
Can't wait! It's like Christmas morning and the tension of anticipation is palpable like the pulp in the bottom of you orange juice glass.

All us Tesla Girls wear our heels to bed & in the bath.
Dudes dig it!
