The Police call it a career
After playing for nearly 4-million fans over 150 shows during their reunion tour, Sting, Stewart and Andy finally played out their last notes together as The Police last night in New York's Madison Square Garden.
According to Rolling Stone, the night got off choppy with a rough cover of "Sunshine of Your Love" and finished quickly, with the the show lasting just under two hours.
"It's been a huge honor to get back with my old friends," Sting told the crowd. "The triumph of this tour is that we haven't strangled each other -- not to say it hasn't crossed my mind."

Ironically, I didn't see them in Tampa. Caught the show with friends in Toronto, then at the Virgin Music Festival in Baltimore. I'm kicking myself for not making more of an effort to get to the MSG show...

Twice? Wow, that's cool. I figure once was in Tampa. When/where was the other show?

I've been steeping myself in All Things Police for the past several days, in honour of this (plus hunting down anything MSG concert-related I can find.) So glad I got the chance to see them twice on this go-'round. Bittersweet but wonderful.

Yes, & Sting's daughters danced behind him during "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic".
I think, I hope, they'll be back again.

They covered Cream and Hendrix? That's pretty cool.

back in the 80s when the synchronicity tour came around my best friend got tickets to see them. i didn't have the cash so i told him i'd catch them on the next tour. the next tour turned out to be a bit longer of a wait than i expected but happily last year i did see the police and it was awesome. true i had expensive nosebleed seats and back in the day it would have been much cheaper but it was worth it. they sounded great that night. i just wish i could have seen them several more times, if only for the memories and bragging rights. they will always be one of my favorite bands. the only way it could have been better is if they had played "man in a suitcase" and "canary in a coalmine." those are a few of my favorite police songs that never get played. ah well, at least i have their music and my concert t-shirt to pass on to my son.

I'm just glad that Stacey and I got to see them before the called it quits forever. And when we saw them, Elvis Costello was the opening act. Now that's a concert!
