'Just a man and his will to survive'

Guess who we're talking to next week -- Survivor!

There's something so totally pure and '80s-ish about this Chicago-born band. And I mean that in a good way. Sorta the same way that I believe this is the week that Lea Thompson won't send back the mix CD I mailed her. (Starts with Power of Love by Frankie. Was I wrong?)

Survivor guitarist Frankie Sullivan will be our guest on the Stuck in the '80s podcast, once Sean Daly returns from "vacation." You can bet we'll be asking about Eye of the Tiger and their other four top 20 hits from the '80s. And of course we'll be asking about the infamous Starbucks commercial. Drop us a comment if you have your own questions for Survivor.

Mary

WAAYY off the subject but guess who the voice of the Geico gecko is? Elvis Costello! REALLY!!!

Marissa

I love the Bud commercials. I have a CD filled with them. I made a FRIDAY mix Cd that's all drinking tunes with those commercials in between tunes. Everybody loves it!

Barely Awake In Frog Pajamas

It's true. David Bickler, Survivor's original lead singer is the vocalist on the Budweiser commercials.

Mike in Austin

Don't ask where I heard this but isn't the singer of survivor the dude that sings those Budweiser commercial spoofs. I may have it wrong or perhaps an urban legend. Best Survivor song EEEEVVVEEEEERRRR: I Can't Hold Back.

wow! ive waited a long time for you guys to do a survivor show. they were one of my top bands in high school. who didnt work out to eye of the tiger? i mean seriously, you couldn't get that pumped up with any other tune, including rock you like a hurricane. in fact, when i was in iraq in 05 we used to blast eye of the tiger every time we left the gate on patrol lol. good times, good times

CHAD

good question guy. a nice follow up to that question might be, how does frankie feel about jimi writing and recording with jim peterik. i liked survivor back in the day. vital signs is a great piece of work.

Anansi

I got this sung to me a lot, having the name Glenn.

Guy

Seriously, what went down with Jimi Jamison and why is he no longer in the group?

Brad

That Starbucks commercial is one of the greatest pieces of advertisement ever.

Ray

Wow! I had never seen that Starbucks commercial before this post. That's Gold!
