Ferris Bueller's high school mascot is ....
Turns out the fictional Shermer High School mascot is a bulldog! Not very original, but that trivia question has been bugging the '80s nation for some time now.
By the way, there's a ton of Shermer High merchandise to be had at Cafepress.com. (Also the home of the Stuck in the '80s souvenir stand.)
Other famous '80s high school mascots:
RIDGEMONT HIGH: That'd be the "Wolf" -- the same mascot of Van Nuys High School, where most of the school scenes were shot for Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
HOLLYWOOD HIGH: That's where Randy and Fred go in Valley Girl. And that makes them "Sheiks."
HICKORY HIGH: In the movie Hoosiers, our little underdogs are "Huskers." Though the school the story is based on is actually Milan High, whose mascot is the "Indian."
TOPSAIL HIGH: The high school in the 1987 Jon Cryer flick Hiding Out is actually Topsail High School, located near Wilmington, N.C. So that makes "Maxwell Howser" a "Pirate."
BEACON TOWN HIGH: In Teen Wolf, Michael J. Fox was a werewolf, but more importantly, he was a "Beaver."
WESTERBERG HIGH: Hmmm, the high school in Heathers is named after Paul Westerberg of The Replacements. And that would make the mascot ... an empty beer bottle?
Still trying to figure out the high school mascots for Last American Virgin, Porky's, Lucas and any others you can dream up.

When I hear the word mascot I think sports so how about HS mascots from "All The Right Moves" and "Vision Quest"?

I actually really like "Gleaming the Cube." And I have no idea why.

"And what is the high school mascot in the Christian Slater gem 'Gleaming the Cube'?", many of you are asking yourselves.
Our skateboard hero Brian Kelly attends Woodbridge High School in Irvine, CA., home of the Warriors.
You know what I love about you Spears? When it comes to podcasting, you are always gleaming the cube.

"Greendale High" is the fictional school in "Better Off Dead," allegedly in "the state of Northern California."
The only Greendale High I can find online is in Wisconsin, and their lovable mascot is "Floyd the Panther."

Thanks Spearsy, long have I wondered, searched and had the thought in the back of my mind. what is that mascot. Last time I checked cafepress there was nothing so i forgot about it until the recent JCPenny's parody ads of Breakfast Club. So once again thanks. You are the man. Jeff

Jeff - thanks so much for the MwC comment
The Hill Valley mascot is also a bulldog, as is the mascot for Westerberg High. Can't these screenwriters come up w/more interesting animals? Platypus? Coelacanth? anything?

Jeff in Cuba, KICK 'EM DONKS!
Also, I wonder what the mascot was in Better Off Dead. Something hilarious, I hope.

Shermer High was from Ferris Bueller? Hmm. It was also in Breakfast Club. "Shermer High School. Shermer, Illinois 60062. Dear Mr. Vernon......"

The movie "Wildcats" was filmed at the football field that my highschool used as it's home stadium. I remember they filmed the movie in summer and were asking people to show up dressed in winter clothes. Hey Spears, I wanted to ask you if they filmed any 80's movies in the Tampa area? Seems like a great place to film an 80's flick. "Top Gun" always appeared to be around the Tampa area but I wasn't sure.

Better question: what is the Hill Valley HS mascot?

Al Bundy once scored four touchdowns for the Polk High School Panthers.
And although I'm straying from the 80's, I can't leave out "Strangers With Candy"'s Flatpoint High,...
