Go away, Guns N' Roses ... please
Does anybody still really care about Guns N' Roses and their Chinese Democracy album? I mean, come on -- they've been putting the finishing touches on it since I worked the grill at McDonald's at Countryside Mall my junior year in high school. And yet, I'm compelled to include the news from the Associated Press:
Geffen Records has announced that the band's eagerly awaited album will be released Nov. 23 at Best Buy stores and the retail chain's Web site. "Chinese Democracy" is the first album of new Guns N' Roses material since 1991's "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II."
If you think I was tough on AC/DC's Black Ice album, wait 'til I get my hands on this albatross of a project. Guns 'N Roses is going to be a trivia question answer in about another 60 days.

Oi Paul, maybe you ought to listen to other forms of music other than mainstream pop. It doesn't help when you're out here ranting 'where's the freakin chorus?'

I'm a casual GnR fan at best, and for me, it's not GnR with only Axl.
Oh, and the new song sucks. Where's the freakin' chorus?

I don't even consider it to be Guns-n-roses without the rest of the band. I won't buy it if it comes out. I still don't really believe it will either. There is still plenty of time for Axl to freak out and screw things up again some how. It's a shame really. That band was so awesome back in the day.

Last I knew the band also featured Devo drummer Josh Freese, which adds a strange elemental twist to any of you playing Six Degrees of Zappa at home...

well, Guns'n'Roses are really quick if it comes to albums, as a fan of The Sisters Of Mercy I know what I am saying, as The Sisters released their last studio album in 1990...
not that I care about that new Axl'n'Posers album but it surely will sell.

I was shocked to see that Tommy Stinson is one of the New Guns. Definitely a different gig from his Replacement days.

it's not gnr. it's axl and a bunch of ever changing sidemen. i will try to be objective but honestly this has to be a masterpiece to have taken so long. i'll be very interested if and when the real gnr reunites for a one off special show commemorating my birthday. i can dream right?

Of course, when you say "they" and "theirs" you mean "he" and "his" because this whole thing is 100% Axl Rose's. Good, bad or whatever it turns out to be, it should all be laid at his feet.

Ah, the age-old philosophical conundrum:
If a tree falls in the forest, and no one hears it, (because they were sick of waiting for the tree to fall after 17 years and so much of it had already fallen off that you could barely even call it a tree anymore, and people had been yelling "Timber!" so often that everyone stopped believing it would ever fall) does it make a sound?

Is GnR really GnR? This would be like David Lee Roth going out with another band and calling it Van Halen.

Oooohohhhh!
I thought GNR put out an album a few years ago with the guy from STP.
Velvet Revolver or something....
Maybe we can all go catch AXEL's GNR at the State Theater or Jannus Landing!

Wow all I can say is this guy loves his Wham and Boy George music .Guns and roses are the last band to even put out a record and now there here to clean up the mess ever since.

I heard the title track yesterday morning on a local rock station (I live in Baltimore). I actually enjoyed the song and would give the new album a chance. I am not expecting much, but if it is any good, I would be pleasantly suprsied. Hell, Metallica hasn't had a good album since the late 80's/early 90's and I love their latest.

Who cares if the album is any good? Does this mean we all get a Dr. Pepper?

I saw G'n'R open for Aerosmith in '88. The most memorable thing about their set was that Axl tried to fight some guy in the front row.

I actually saw Guns 'N Roses back in December of 1987 when they opened for Alice Cooper at the UIC Pavilion. It was an interesting show...I just remember Slash being really drunk and slurring his words heavily into the mic. I also remember Axel announcing proudly that he was from Indiana, and grew up listening to Chicago radio, the crowd of course booed him heavily, I guess they weren't big fans of people from Indiana. I am not sure how he listened to Chicago radio down in Indiana, maybe he was listening to the WLS AM feed at nights. I have to say, I am looking forward to some new music, a lot of this has already come out in some sort of boot leg form or in concert recordings. He really waited way too long to come out with something new...at this point the music will never live up to the expectations.

I'm more impressed that you worked at the Countryside Mall. I remember that place when I first went in it in the late 70's or early 80's when we cam down from New York to visit my grandparents. First mall I remember with a skating rink in it!

By the way, I've been rockin' "Frampton Comes Alive!" all morning.

Best Buy is great for finding DVDs though. They're my go-to spot for that. But for music, yeah ... it's impossible to find a decent store. Best place in Tampa Bay: Bananas Music & Movies ... http://musicfinder.com/

I'm with you on this one Spearsy. G'n'R died a long time ago, they don't need to be resurrected. However, I find the exclusive deal with Best Buy far worse than bands making an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart. For me, Best Buy is the place you want to go if you don't want to find the album you are looking for. It has the worst music selection ever.

Is it really GnR without Slash? I doubt it. I'm going to pass on this one.
