Top movie songs of the 80s: 21-40
Are you getting tired of the ultimate list of Top Movie Songs of the '80s? Because I could go alllll night long, just like Lionel Richie, my friends.
Remember, the idea here is picking the songs that immediately send you back to some afternoon at the multiplex, downing Raisinets and Icees while watching Molly, the two Coreys or Mr. Kevin Bacon ("If you ask my, Ren's a total fox") take our troubles away.
Today's big winner: Speaking of Bacon, today must be Footloose Appreciation Day, with three tunes landing on the list. Could Footloose be the most underrated soundtrack of the decade? David Bowie doesn't care. He landed two long-underplayed tunes on today's list.

Douglas,
Honestly, I think most of the people that love Labyrinth are female, myself included. You men don't appreciate the awesomeness that is David Bowie in tight pants. Screw Toby, I would have run off and been The Goblin Queen.
I actually went as Jareth for Halloween awhile back- still have my wig.

I remember going to see a midnight showing of Labyrinth the day it opened and being bitterly disappointed. It was a horrible film featuring some of the lamest Bowie tunes ever committed to tape. Why some folks bitterly cling to it with "fond" memories is beyond me. No one I went with that night liked it even remotely (we were a group of about 10 or so). I would have completely forgotten this song, and maybe added "Cat People (Putting Out The Fire)"...which quite frankly should have been a top 20 tune at the very least.
Can you tell I haven't had my full allotment of caffeine yet this AM?? Still, I stand by my statements.
I am Douglas Arthur, and I approve this message.

So many classic tracks. One of my most favorite is "Only the Young." Love the story of how the band took a Walkman and that song to a hospitalized, dying boy and allowed him to be the first to hear it.

SD,
Not every punch is a knockout blow. It's all in the timing.
Don't worry, when the time is right, I'll get my shots in.

Oh my gosh, after seeing Labyrinth I always said that I would name my daughter Sara and my son Jareth. I loved David Bowie in this movie!

I now have "Jungle Love" stuck in my head.
Jessie! Now Jerome... yeah *slide*

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for (finally) recognizing the brilliance that is Labyrinth on one of your lists.
You guys should do a commentary to THAT movie!
Loved the Halloween one btw. Long live drunken pop music critics!

another good batch of tunes. glad to see some cheap trick love. separate lives seems to me, too be kinda low, with all the love heaped upon it over the years. i also figured, almost paradise would be top 20.

"Oh well, that's why you're the Fearless Leader."
Jeff? Jeff in Cuba? Is that you? 'Cause I swear the Jeff in Cuba I know on Pop Life is like Don Rickles with a taser.
Curiouser and curiouser...

I'm really serious when I say we could have done a list twice as long. It's amazing how many signature tunes there are out there associated with '80s movies.

Oh snap, Cheap Trick! It didn't even cross my mind to suggest "Up the Creek" for this list. Wish that one was available on CD.

The sadly pathetic thing about the list of 60 so far, is that I have not had to go to iTunes to buy any of them. What wasn't already on my iPod was in my CD collection. A total of six songs had to be added to my iPod. Today I had to add "Mighty Wings" (pick yourself up off the floor Spearsy, I've already told you I hate that movie), and "Up Where We Belong". I have a feel all of the top 20 is already on my iPod.

I would have thought "Good Times" was a lock for the top 20. Oh well, that's why you're the Fearless Leader.
BTW, a lot of duets on today's portion of the chart.

David Bowie is always ready for Halloween.

There's My Song!
