'V' invades prime time TV again!
Can TV get any better for '80s fans? First a new Knight Rider returns and now this: The sci-fi series V is set to be remade and return to television as a miniseries and TV spinoff.
ABC is remaking the 1980s story about alien lizards "visiting" Earth, according to Variety.com. The new series will be written by The 4400 co-creator Scott Peters.
"Whenever I mention V to anybody, they still have a lot of good memories about the original movie and series," Peters told the trade journal. "Everybody has that imagery of their uniforms, or the visitor eating a hamster. It’s a science fiction icon and too good to pass up."
The original 1983 miniseries was a ratings triumph, sparking a sequel and a weekly TV series during the 1984-85 season. Original writer-producer-director Kenneth Johnson had been trying to find buyers for "V: The Second Generation," according to Variety, but he's not listed among those involved with the ABC version.
The new miniseries will revolve around a Homeland Security agent whose wayward son is attracted to the aliens upon their arrival, though more side plots are expected along the way.

With how special effects have improved? This really has potential. Too bad it will not be on cable - that really would have been sweet.

Wow! I swear to god I was just thinking about V the other day and wondering why it had not been re-made yet.

"V", really? What's next, a resurrection of Manimal with Simon McCorkindale? What about Misfits of Science, there's a classic worth re-doing...

V was originally too expensive to be made into a series. That is why they made the second mini series. Then with the popularity tried again. I was disappointed with Diana's wedding - it should have been more "alien" instead of using "Earth" vows then eating live reptiles/mice. I still watched it though. I hope they do a good job with the remake.

You can try again tonight, Cylon. Thanks for putting up the VGF!

I loved the V series although the ending was kinda cheesy. The whole powers of the Starchild stopping the Doomsday device. I had read that there was rumors of re-doing V but I didn't know it was already confirmed.
You know Spears, I tried to make VGF watch this one evening but we never got to it. Damn the vodka and its power to interrupt 80s Sci-Fi movie night.

V was cheesy but man I loved it. I guess it was the sci-fi idea of it. But honestly it's been so long since I've seen it that I can't remember much other than some of the characters and such.
