Duran Duran rolls out Red Carpet again
Duran Duran's seemingly never-ending Red Carpet Massacre tour is going to last a little longer. The band will race through parts of North America again, starting Dec. 4 in Tulsa, Okla.
Sadly, none of the nine additional dates brings the band to Florida or the Tampa Bay area. Other tour stops include Columbus, Ohio, Houston, Biloxi and Atlantic City. Click here for a full list of dates.
The tour supporting their new album now has stretched out 14 months. Frontman Simon Le Bon recently told PollStar.com that for Duran Duran, longer tours are now a matter of economics -- and geography.
"There are a lot more places to go; the world's gotten a lot bigger as far as touring is concerned," Simon told PollStar. "When we started off, we played England mostly, America, Canada and Europe - a bit of Europe, but not all of it. You couldn't play shows in Italy or Portugal, because there was no way you were going to get your money out of there. ... And all of these places now are really great. There are great crowds there and people who want to see the band. And it works for us; it's logistically possible to put a tour on and go to those places and come out of it looking good."

Just so Miguel isn't left hanging, he's a little throwaway snark:
I love the big "D"s on the jackets. They must be from TJ Maxx's Laverne & Shirley Collection.

Read Andy Taylor's book.
It's all about economics. The way the boys blow through money, they HAVE to tour.
Which is lucky for us. Although with som many places to play and go and tour, Florida got left off. Oh well, I guess we won't be opening for our '80s idols...

Just started reading Wild Boy, only the PROLOGUE, pretty good so far. "I found myself sitting in a big cardboard box being dragged across the car park to the artists' bus by Eric Clapton. `You seem like you might need help,` he later told me...
The Sparks Bros Mael, & a few friends, just did a dramatic out-loud reading of selected passages of this book to an audience in LA. I bought the book on the way out.
This is a damn good blog!

You may want to keep an eye on the Duran Duran site...they have been canceling dates due to Keyboardist Nick Rhodes still unable to travel because of a serious ear infection.
I've had ear infections, these things can last a while.

It´s curious when they said they couldn`t play shows in Italy or Portugal, when they were here in Lisbon last Summer with an horrible show! They only had less than 5000 people for their show because everybody knew they would suck(those people went there to watch Beck right after them) and because at the same time there was another show in Lisbon with MGMT, The Nationals, Gogol Bordelo,The Hives,Rage Against The Machine....They had over 50000 people there.
Of course they didn`t get their money out of there.
