Dave Stewart working on 'Ghost' musical
The Eurythmics' Dave Stewart may have stumbled onto a bad idea. The word from Broadway.com is that Stewart is writing the songs for a musical version of the 1990 sob-fest Ghost, which starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.
"Writing the movie Ghost has been, from conception to winning the Oscar, the most joyful experience of my film career," said Bruce Joel Rubin, who is turning his movie screenplay into a stage script. "The opportunity to give it new life as a musical, to see Molly and Sam come alive again, to see their souls soar with song, is proving to be one of the great experiences of my life."
Did he really say "souls soar with song"? Come on, Stewart! Jump off this project. I was making big plans to dress up as you for next Halloween (with Vegas Girlfriend dressing as Annie Lennox, riding crop and all!), but this project is going to tarnish your legacy.

3. ANOTHER 48 HOURS (1990): "They blew up my car and all you have to say is it's a damn shame?"
2. HOME ALONE (1990): "When I grow up and get married, I'm living alone." [trailer]

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Thank god you had the courage to post that list. I'm so sick of people staring in disbelief when I tell them I hate Ghost and Pretty Woman. I also hate Dirty Dancing. I haven't seen the other 3 on the list but would probably hate them as well

Perhaps Dave Stewart's music and some rewrites, could make this into a decent show.

I might have liked Home Alone, if someone hadn't beefed it up so much before I saw it. Like the first Batman movie, I didn't see it right away, but the hype ruined it for me because I was expecting a perfect movie and it fell short. Same with Home Alone, if my Co-worker hadn't bragged about how funny it was, I could've enjoyed it because the scenes he described wasn't as funny on screen as it was in his description. For me, it was overhyped. In fact the same could be said with most of these movies on this list.

Morris Day was pretty entertaining in Ford Fairlane too.

As usual, Spearsy, your list is perfect. I can proudly say that I've never watched any of those movies in their entirety.

The only good thing about Ford Fairlane was the soundtrack included a good song by Queensrÿche called "Last Time In Paris".

The list is very good. We could add Die Hard 2:Die Harder,Robocop 2 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The 90s were really Julia Roberts' decade, and Pretty Woman made her. Therefore, Pretty Woman is a top 5 pick for destroying the 80s.
Though I do also think Home Alone has blood on its hands big-time as well.
I will attempt to watch Ford Fairlane when it comes on cable, but that's only because I have no life (except when VGF is in town.)

Pretty Woman always felt like an 80's movie to me. It just has that 80's vibe. I just saw the movie "The Wrestler" that has some great 80's music and references in it. Mickey Rourke even comments how he hated that Kurt Cobain killed the 80's music and how the 90's really sucked, great stuff!!

That top-five list is dead-on.

This is wrong on so many levels.

I know. That's why I used an older photo of Stewart for the blog item.

Dave has morphed into Ringo on that last tour. Same clothes, same hair, maybe even more rings than Ringo himself. Very confusing.
