Remember this song? It's coming back on CD
Kim Wilde's Kids in America appears on one of the most under-rated and sadly forgotten soundtracks of the '80s? Can you remember it? (Answer at the bottom.) But here's the good news: Wilde has just re-released her first two albums -- Kim Wilde and Select -- in expanded CD editions.
Her debut album reached No.3 on the U.K. charts when originally issued in 1981 with the hit singles Kids In America (No. 2 in the U.K., No. 3 in Australia, No. 25 in the U.S.), Chequered Love and Water On Glass. Both re-releases have bonus tracks, the original LP artwork and liner notes approved by her official fan club and Wilde herself.
If all this news has you aching to see her live in concert, you better hope you live in the U.K. or have the coin to buy a plane ticket. Her latest tour dates keep our British cutie -- yeah, she looks hotter than ever -- very close to home. Maybe we can snag her for a future Regeneration Tour to the U.S.
(And the answer to what movie soundtrack that Kids in America appears on: 1984's Reckless, starring Daryl Hannah and Aidan Quinn. The soundtrack also features INXS, Romeo Void and Bob Seger.)

Kim Wilde was one of the Biggest Popstars in 80's ... She enjoyed Awards, magazine covers, sold out tours, # 1's, selling millions of records and lets not forget Kim was soo Gorgeous -her posters were in every Man and Woman's bedrooms.
Even Handpicked Michael Jackson himself on his 1988 "BAD " Tour Kim toured with him for 4 months, that sums it up all don't u think?
Kim was Briditte Bardot of Rock, no one will ever take her place in Pop music.
My favorites are "You Keep Me Hangin on", You Came and of course 90's Comeback "Love is Holy & If i can't have you" she was the IT.
PS. Kim Wilde released in 2007 new album call "Never say never" its fantastic record.

I was a huge Kim Wilde fan in the '80's. I had "Kim Wilde" on LP and "Select" on cassette. I had a friend who went to England and brought me back a CD copy that had both of these on it but was missing the full version of the song "Cambodia". Great stuff! I didn't like her move to dance music and always thought she would have been a bigger success had she toured the US in '81 or '87 when "Keep Me Hanging On" came out.

I can understand the German so I think that helps. Maybe others who don't wouldn't like it as much but, yes, their voices sound good together. Nena is smoking hot in the video too...I like her voice...it is a bit husky/raspy/sexy.

Glad that we think alike billyshakes. It is a pretty good song and thier voices go good together. If it was all in English, it might have been a hit in the US as well.

DerekT,
I was just going to post the same thing that you did. Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime (Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann) is one of my favorite tracks from either artist. I actually prefer the duet version to Nena's original version.

Kim Wilde had a hit song here in Germany as a duet with none other then Nena.

I pulled out her first album and listened to it. I forgot that it was actually a really good new wave album. She made the mistake of going with dance music a few years later.

so i click on the video for my daughter... who immediately says she's singing it wrong, because the jonas brothers must be right (kids of the future)... sigh.

I liked Reckless. Aidan Quinn did look about 10 years too old for high school. D. Hannah looked great in the film.

I always loved the two hits that she had here in the U.S. and it was only recently that I discovered what a success she's had in the U.K. Makes me wonder why there were not more singles released here. From what I have heard of her other material, it is quite good. I've been planning to purchase one of the greatest hit compilations.
