Conan is a 'Die Hard' fan of Alan Rickman

New Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien had the honor of penning the upcoming "Must List" for Entertainment Weekly. The list, traditionally a list of hot to-do items for the coming week, was more of a collection of the funny man's personal pop culture faves this time around.

For example, No. 6 on his list: Alan Rickman as "Hans Gruber" in 1988's Die Hard.

"I love bad guys," Conan writes. "And in this movie Alan Rickman is so cartoonishly evil that seconds before he plummets to his death from a high office tower, he has the sick presence of mind to try and shoot Bruce Willis."

All talk show hosts should be stuck in the '80s. And his "Must List" allows Entertainment Weekly to stay stuck on villains. Here's the magazine's recent list of Top 20 Villains of All Time. Only a couple '80s heroes make the list sadly:

Doctor's orders force Morrissey to cancel tour

Morrissey is going to have to take a bow on the rest of his UK tour after his doctor ordered him to stop singing.

A total of seven shows have been canceled. According to media reports, Morrissey's managers are hoping he'll be well enough to perform his European tour beginning June 2 in Paris.

It seems the problem is a throat illness. According to the BBC, the 50-year-old former Smiths singer "had been advised by doctors earlier this week not to sing to ensure a complete recuperation."

The Cure's Robert Smith names his Top 30 songs of the '80s

Robert Smith of The Cure hosted a special two-hour countdown of his top 30 favorite songs from the ‘80s on Sirius XM's 1st Wave channel on Friday. Curious what songs he picked? Here's the list, in alphabetical order, as provided by Stuck in the '80s fan Brad Williams and Cure fan websites.

Chevy Chase jumps into 'Hot Tub' with John Cusack

Remember all the earlier talk about the new John Cusack movie, The Hot Tub Time Machine? The movie has already started filming in Vancouver, and Cusack will have the added star power of another '80s hero: Chevy Chase.

The script follows a group of guys going through mid-life angst who are catapulted back to 1987 after hopping into their hot tub. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chase plays "a mysterious repairman who dispenses pearls of wisdom and may or may not be behind the metaphysical road trip."

Sounds a little like Christopher Walken in Click or Don Knotts in Pleasantville. But we have faith that Chase will put his unique turn on the role.

If you can't get enough Chevy Chase, here's more good news: Chase is set to star in NBC's new TV series Community, playing a community college student "carrying more divorces than classes," says THR.

Still busting a move, 20 years later

It was 20 years ago this week that a man named Marvin Young with an economics degree from Southern Cal released a little ditty that would become one of the definitive dance hits of the late '80s. Yep, Marvin Young is "Young MC" and that song was Bust a Move.

Lest you label Young MC as a one-hit wonder (as VH1 did in 2002), remember that he also co-wrote Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina for Tone Loc.

These days, Young is still in the business, though most of his time is spent placing his songs in video game soundtracks and in TV shows, proving once and for all that you can make money with an economics degree.

Horrible hits of 1983: 10 reasons you almost stopped listening to music altogether

Ever look back in time and wonder, "How did I get through that wretched year?" That's the way Sean Daly and I feel about music from the year 1983.

Oh sure, it was filled like classic tunes like Billie Jean, Let's Dance, Little Red Corvette and more. But for every Maneater (bless you Hall & Oates), there's a dozen stinkers from the likes of Christopher Cross, Phil Collins, Debarge and more.

And so, it is with heavy hearts (possibly from eating too many Lil Smokies) that we present our latest podcast: The Horrible Hits of 1983. I don't want to give away too many surprises (other than this is yet another show that required Rolaids for us just to finish the recording process, thanks to the latest batch of scary snack foods). Suffice to say that if you feel compelled to leave us some scathing feedback after listening ... then it's all Daly's fault because he picked most of the songs this time around.

Dave Gahan shakes the disease: Depeche Mode to restart tour after singer has tumor removed

Remember Dave Gaham's recurring case of gastroenteritis that put a stop to Depeche Mode's just-started world tour? It turns out it was much more serious than just a tummy ache.

Gahan, DM's lead singer, was hospitalized on May 12 before the band could take the stage in Athens, Greece. According to the band's official website, "further medical tests revealed a low-grade malignant tumour in Dave's bladder, which has since been successfully removed. At doctors' orders Dave Gahan must take a break until June 8th, to ensure that he makes a full recovery."

The tour is expected to restart June 8 in Leipzig, Germany, the website said today.

Nearly a dozen shows have been canceled, and promoters are expected to make an announcement soon on what will happen to those tour stops. Depeche Mode is scheduled to play Tampa's Ford Amphitheatre on Sept. 4. Click here for more tour dates.

Eat your C3PO's: Fave fad cereals of the '80s

If you were a child of the '80s, like today's guest blogger Jeff Fisher of Raleigh, N.C., Saturday morning was not complete without cartoons and breakfast cereals. Jeff took time out from blow-torching the Crunchberries out of his back molars to provide his list of favorite fad cereals of the '80s and their commercials:

PAC-MAN CEREAL (1983): You can do the Pac-Man! Gobble them up good, or they might gobble you. [Watch commercial]

SMURFBERRY CRUNCH CEREAL (1982): I’m not sure Peyo was intending his beloved cartoons to be pimping a breakfast cereal. Hands down, the best song of all the fad cereal commercials. [Watch commercial]

RAINBOW BRITE CEREAL (1985): This was a pretty tasty cereal. It even made your milk fruity. Glad this cartoon has never been resurrected!  [Watch commercial]

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES CEREAL (late '80s): Cowabunga! Forget the pizza, I need me some TMNT cereal to help me fight Shredder and the Foot Clan!  [Watch commercial]

Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes? Hardly elementary

Robert Downey Jr. has played an Ian, a Charlie, a Ralph, Julian and Wolf. So should we really be shocked his next role is Sherlock?

Our '80s hero plays the title role in 2009's Sherlock Holmes, set for release on Christmas Day. The movie co-stars Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. Will this new action flick, along with his Iron Man success, complete his career rehabilitation?

I'd feel better about it if Guy Ritchie weren't directing it. The only good directing he's done is finding a quick way out of his marriage to Madonna.

I have faith Downey will still make it watchable. Why? Because though we loved him in Chaplin, Iron Man, Less Than Zero, Back to School and Natural Born Killers, it's the oft-neglected films that still amaze us.

Ferris fans: Buy Cameron Frye's house ... for $2.3 million

"Frye ... Frye ... Frye ..." Cameron Frye doesn't live here anymore. His home from 1986's Ferris Bueller's Day Off is on the market.

A Chicago Realtor has listed 370 Beach St. in Highland Park, Ill. -- where portions of the movie were filmed -- for the paltry sum of $2.3 million. Red 1961 Ferrari 250GT California not included. (Well, it's still probably stuck in the trees.)

The house is 5,300 square feet, includes a three-car garage, four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Click here to see more details and photos from inside the 1953 home, built by architects A. James Speyer and David Haid.

Ferris fans will remember the glassed-in garage, where Cameron's fate is sealed so poetically when his dad's car -- stuck in reverse to erase the mileage from their day off -- goes flying into the woods below.

Ferris director John Hughes, who reportedly still lives on Chicago's North Shore, has been told the home is for sale, but hasn't commented publicly, according to the Daily Herald.
