Every award show has its thorn: Poison's Bret Michaels fractures nose at Tonys
Poison's Bret Michaels was smacked in the head, flipped and knocked down after performing Sunday night at the Tony Awards in New York.
Michaels' publicist said the singer fractured his nose and had to get three stitches in his lip. He was getting a CAT scan today as a precaution, as he's had a past neck injury, reports the Associated Press.
Michaels and his bandmates performed with the cast of Tony-nominated Rock of Ages (which sadly didn't win), and as he was leaving the stage, a descending piece of the set hit him in the head hard enough to land Michaels face first on the stage floor.
According to the AP, Michaels simply "missed his mark" as the number ended and the scenery for the next segment descended.

Wondering why Poison would play the Tony Awards? Rock of Ages was up for some big awards, including best actor and best musical (though they lost both to Billy Elliot). Plus, don't forget that Poison, Def Leppard and Cheap Trick are one of the big '80s tours of the summer. They play Tampa's Ford Amphitheatre on Aug. 14.

Poison is ok... but they are no Judas Priest. The show at the ampitheatre seems pretty cool, but I'd much rather rock out the Judas Priest and Whitesnake at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Thanks, Steve, for the info. I was wondering why Warrant, no, that's Europe, no, wait, Venom, no, I mean Ratt, no, no, it was... What does it matter? They're all the same.
Anyway, at least now I know why they were performing at the Tony Awards. Thanks, Steve.
I hope that Vince Neil will be ok.

All the more reason to go back to the 80's when they wore more than enough hairspray to prevent tragedies like that.

that may be why they shouldn't have been at the Tonys.
Perhaps Andrew Lloyd Webber (big '80s broadway) can do a number or two at teh next MTV Music Video Awards show?

Not a big fan of Poison, but damn. Ouch.
If he didn't have the damn hat on, he'd have seen the thing dropping. I can't count how many times have I been whacked by a tree limb or something when wearing a hat -- fortunately, none have been on national TV, and none were nearly that bad.
Skip the cowboy hat next time, dude! Just work the doo-rag!

Wow! A guy hit his head... not even very hard. And this is a story why?

I have to admit that this cracked me up. I do hope he is okay though.

My laughter just confirms what Mel Brooks said:
"Tragedy is when I get a hangnail. Comedy is when you fall in an open manhole and die."

HA HA HA HA HA !
I guess that's not a doo-rag/cowboy HARD hat.

The video is funny. Even if he missed his mark, there was no safety margin. But it was funny anyway.
