Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan is hurt ... again
Guess which '80s band just canceled their last two European dates due to injury? Depeche Mode fans, you better have your hands high in air -- per usual.
Singer Dave Gahan, who was sidelined earlier in the tour with a bladder tumor, now has torn a calf muscle. Doctors have told him to stay off his leg and rest, according to theinsider.com.
At this point, we should mention that Gahan is 47 years old, not 67 years old, and is a singer, not a pole vaulter. So this is another mind-boggling injury.
Depeche Mode's North American tour is set to start July 24 in Toronto and includes a Sept. 4 date at Tampa's Ford Amphitheatre. If you're planning on attending, make sure to bring a wheelchair for Dave ... just in case.
By the way, if you're still on the fence as to buying tickets, here's the Depeche Mode set list for the 2009 tour so far, according to their official website. It looks fantastic:
- In Chains
- Wrong
- Hole To Feed
- Walking In My Shoes
- It's No Good
- A Question Of Time
- Precious
- Fly On The Windscreen
- Jezebel
- A Question Of Lust
- Come Back
- Peace
- In Your Room
- I Feel You
- In Sympathy
- Enjoy The Silence
- Never Let Me Down Again
Encore #1
- Stripped
- Master And Servant
- Strangelove
Encore #2
- Personal Jesus
- Waiting For The Night (Bare Version)

How is it a mind-boggling injury? Perry Ferrell did the same thing two months ago at a concert in Atlanta.....

Where's my favorite Martin Gore song "Somebody"?
Love the encores!
Can't believe they picked an outdoor venue in Dallas in late August! Didn't they check the average high is like 100 then?

I still don't have tickets for the Tampa show. I fear that Stub Hub is plotting for me to spend all my extra coin on their site this fall.

Spears - Has your stomach finally calmed down enough from New Orleans to throw a podcast our way?

Just saw him at BILBAO BBK LIVE Festival.
Dave indeed hurt his leg at this.
JANE'S ADDICTION smashed it as headliners that day. Ting Tings, Kaiser Chiefs, Chris Cornell, DMB rounded out the line-up. Echo & TBM opened up. It was Fabulous! & the next day we all went to Frank Gehry's GUGGENHEIM Museum.

I've seen them a couple of times, the most recent about 2 years ago. They were great. I would love to see them again.

Well, I was at the Jimmy Kimmel show in April, and he still moves like he did in the 80's....so maybe he forgets that he is 47 and not 25. Maybe no wheelchair needed, just maybe he shouldn't twirl around with mic anymore....i'm just saying, because I have tickets for the LA show in August and he better be well and fit!

Depeche Mode live and no "Everything Counts." Blasphemous!

The curious thing about their show here was that they were going to play in Porto not in Lisbon, because in this festival, the Super Bock/Super Rock nowadays one of the smallest and least important in the countless Summer festivals here, they couldn`t make it to Lisbon. The festival in Lisbon was booked with the likes of Brandi Carlile,Duffy,The Killers,so the organization sent them to Porto,a smaller city and a smaller show(they had less than 30000 tickets sold). It`s incredible how these crap pop sensations like Duffy can throw a band like Depeche Mode.

Keep in mind this is the European setlist. They might change it up for North America. Genesis did on their last world tour. (The European setlist was actually better -- more classic stuff.)
