Do NOT build these carpetbaggin' jews a new stadium!

All,
Regardless of which side of the stadium issue you are on, I suggest that you go to mlb.com and vote for Evan Longoria to be on the AL Allstar Team.
Thanks,

I'm pretty sure everyone on this blog has read enough comments. To know that get smart would not make the comment posted at 11:33.

Mal,
"Get Smart" has a history of some colorful & distasteful language. Just because you agree with everything that he/she says, please open your mind to the chance that this bitter person is capable of some sad rhetoric.

No loyalty oath need be administered nor should this be a Rays/chamber/political conference call.
Citizens groupS questioned Rays and "officals" veracity so groups MUST be fully represented if failure is to be avoided.
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 01:45 PM
let ELECTED OFFICIALS do their friggin' jobs
Posted by: Power to the Politicians | July 07, 2008 at 01:48 PM
The "elected officals" big spending big brother ways have been temporarily slowed by energized voters; first by Ammendment 1 and now by derailing extortion stadium.
Their "friggin jobs" are as representatives of THE VOTERS not EXCLUSIVLY business lobbyists.
The Rays will attempt to weather this temporary storm by inciting a subsidy bidding war between city and county "officials" but voters WILL be MORE incensed.
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 02:43 PM
man, this old coot is living in a dream world
the Rays will get a stadium ... a nice, NEW stadium that will be more centrally located and it won't take a referendum to get it done
sorry Father Knows Not-So-Best ... PROGRESS HAPPENS

Take your time moron.
Fingers and toes allowed.
Moved here at age 3
Been here since 1962
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 05:22 PM
I think it is VERY simple.
The charter of Mr. Jeff Lyash's committee ought to be to endeavor to find the BEST possible location, design, and financing for a NEW Rays stadium.
No one who opposses this goal should be on the committe. Period.
In fact, the BEST way to work such a committee would be to have every person who accepts appointment to the committee sign an oath swearing to support the recommendations reached by a majority of the committee's members.
Let the naysayers and antis criticize from afar. POWW has demonstrated that their group is about achieving their own targeted victory (regardless of what is best for the region, or what the citizens want) through dishonesty.
There is no place for POWW on such a committee.
Period.

Rick K said,
"There is no place for POWW on such a committee."
Well, Rick now espouses the repeal of the 1st Amendment apparently.
Rick K wishes to stifle the debate any way he can. Which makes him NO different than the group he so fears in POWW. It's called a hypocrite, Rick K.
You are the Webster's dictionary definition of one.
POWW members are ALL taxpaying citizens of this city. Many of whom have lived here their entire lives. Unlike yourself.
How DARE you try and tell fellow voters and taxpayers who can and who can not have a voice in this going forward!
EVERY citizen has a right to be represented in this coalition. Even psychotic, hypocritical idiots such as yourself.

Rrrrrrrrick
Similar to the oath supporting ROE V WADE required by BUSH ADMINISTRATION for American workers in Iraqs GREEN ZONE?
This kind of "GROUPTHINK" is not reflective of anything other than self and a waste of time.
A stadium needs to be built eventualy. We MUST have a REPRESENTATIVE CROSSSECTION of Pinellans for success.

Damn, John just crushed Rick. Thoroughly and completely.
The only thing missing was "Boom - Outta Here"
Posted by: Thomas | July 07, 2008 at 06:45 PM
Rick K: Go away. Please! You are convincing no one.
Mr. Jeff Lyash: Please tell Baker you would rather not work with the crooked government of St. Petersburg as the head of this new baseball coalition. Trust me it is only going to get you dirty too. Resign now before you reputation is ruined.
Posted by: Tombstone | July 07, 2008 at 07:13 PM
Tombstone, I should tell you that I have no delusions of being able to convince anyone who believes that the government of St. Pete is "crooked," or that Mr Lyash reputation will be ruined by heading this important committee.
Y'all who have already gone round the bin cannot be redeemed.
Posted by: Rick K | July 07, 2008 at 08:41 PM
Could you ANTI's get any more loony?
My strong opinion that the ANTI's should not be part of this committee is not consistent with belief in aboloshing the first amendment, which, for those of you who haven't read it in a while, DOES NOT protect the right of liars to serve on any and every committee formed everywhere.
In fact, no person has a Constitutional right to be on a committee of this type.
And for those of you who are not as idiotic as John, you'll see that I am quite serious. Deceitful naysayers have no business on a committee which ought to be concerned with truth and getting the objective done!
As for 1962's CRAZY notion about some sort of Abortion oath required by the Bush administration. I think someone missed his meds.
Posted by: Rick K | July 07, 2008 at 08:48 PM
There's that creeping creepy religiosity again Rrrrrrrick!
Redemption?
Oaths?
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 08:50 PM
Read Rick
ROE V WADE OATH TRUE
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 08:52 PM
Well Rick,
If anyone would be familiar with the symptoms of an individual who has "missed his meds" it would be you!
Posted by: Gaurdian | July 07, 2008 at 08:55 PM

"Life in the Emerald City"
Google it Rrrrrrick
READ IT RICK
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 09:04 PM
1962. Read it.
Which informs me enough to tell you this: That book has NOTHING to do with this committee.
Posted by: Rick K | July 07, 2008 at 09:30 PM
AND ROE V WADE?
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 09:41 PM
"informs me ENOUGH"
ENOUGH said
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 09:49 PM
The Title of the Blog Entry at the top of this thread is "Everyone wants a voice on Jeff Lyash's coalition"
Roe v Wade has NOTHING to do with that topic.
Posted by: Rick K | July 07, 2008 at 10:54 PM
being fully informed
not necessary?
learning fom others mistakes
not valid?
take Ricks oath and SHUT UP
opposing points of view are ESSENTIAL
Posted by: since1962 | July 07, 2008 at 11:23 PM
It's all about checks and balances.
There's no reason to exclude POWW or anyone else.
Only a fringe extremist would suggest limited the scope of the committee to include only those who have strong "pro-ballpark" views.
And that's what you get with the Ricker - a fringe extremist and a hypocrite.
John described it perfectly already.
Posted by: Thomas | July 08, 2008 at 12:15 PM
Rick and his ilk are "Victims of Groupthink"
I would suggest that 1972 psychological examination of the phenomenon as well but victims often drool and repeat
the phrase "informed enough"
Some call them republicans
Some call them democrats
With the drool... rabid fits
Posted by: since1962 | July 08, 2008 at 12:38 PM
I see no wisdom in having anyone on the Task Force who is not committed to the group's objective.
Posted by: Observer | July 08, 2008 at 02:16 PM
No wisdom huh? Well let me try to explain it to you:
If you build the committee with just "stadium at any cost" extremists - like Rick - you know what's going to happen?
You're going to end up with a bunch of people patting each other on the back, talking about what a great plan they have - then when it's disclosed to the public, it's going to get crushed.
Just like the Al Lang site did.
Rick K, for example, was convinced that plan was going to cure cancer. But when it was published, it got completely and utterly shut down. Is that what you want? A bunch of clueless supporters creating another plan that has no chance at actually being passed?
You need to have checks and balances. Shutting out people like POWW is counter productive. Without understanding the oppositions views, you're going to end up taking another beat down. Didn't you learn anything from the first proposal?
Posted by: Thomas | July 08, 2008 at 03:16 PM
Of course not, Thomas, all Rick K learned was to change his name to "Observer" so he could continue to post on Troxblog without getting ridiculed. But those sharpies over there saw right through his rhetoric just like we do on this blog, and he got ridiculed anyway.
It's like having a task force on the morality of the death penalty, but only pro-capital punishment folks are allowed to participate....
Oh and to your part about a bunch of PRO-ballpark meatwhistles standing around patting each other on the back?
We's in these parts call that a circle-jerk. Rick K would make a great leader, in that sense.
Don't make me say it,...wait..wait for it....
BOOOM!!!! ;)
Posted by: John | July 08, 2008 at 03:50 PM
Rrrrick has been in his Sybil mode today. Observer, Truth I can't wait for the next one. Maybe Know It All would be fitting. It's sad that he is the only one who doesn't recognize that A) we all know him and B) he is delirious. Hey Rrrrick, how about they put only ANTI's on the committee? Would that be fair as well?
Posted by: Don Mott | July 08, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Roe vs Wade? Was that a Wimbeldon match? Was it an instant classic? I will try to check it on ESPN. Hopefully it was as good as this past championship.
