Firefighters endorse candidates

The Pasco County Professional Firefighters Local 4420, the firefighters union, chimed in with its slate of candidate endorsements this afternoon.

Sheriff: Kim Bogart over Jeff Deremer on the Democratic side, and Robert Sullivan on the Republican race. Sullivan faces incumbent Sheriff Bob White, who is no favorite of the deputies unions.

County Commissioner: John Nicolette, a Tampa firefighter, over incumbent Ted Schrader in the District 1 race. As there are no Democratic candidates, this primary will all but decide the election.

County Commissioner: Incumbent Republican Ann Hildebrand over challengers Wil Nickerson and Matt Matey in District 3.

County Commissioner: Incumbent Republican Jack Mariano over Rich Jenkins in District 5.

Clerk of the Court: Paula O'Neil over Dan Tipton. Both are Republicans vying for the job long held by the retiring Jed Pittman.

Well done, firefighters!

Everyone should note the choices that our safety officials have made when they go to vote on August 26.

Public safety should be a top priority. These people place their lives on the line every day and we should take notice of their choices!

Public safety is a primary concern. These people place their lives on the line everyday, so their choices should be recongnized and strongly considered!
