Good luck with that, Rouson

So the latest idea from the assertive state Rep. Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg: He's asked Gov. Charlie Crist to call a special session of the Florida Legisalture to deal with homeowner's insurance, the anemic state budget, and the ongoing mortgage crisis.

So why would Crist, a Republican and Republican legislative leaders (who also have the power to call a special session) agree in an election year? Good question.

So… how many “Special Sessions” – to address one or all of these issues – does this make?

The best these folks could do is call a “Special Session” to discuss exactly how they can all resign in mass.

Or maybe a “Special Session” to decide whether they should accept insurance company and other lobbyists’ monies this year!

Rouson: just another pinhead puppet

Another publicity stunt by Rouson. When is he going to do something other than stunts like 50-50-50 or buying the MC spot at a party event.

District 55 needs a legislator instead of a bombastic, ego-driven trial lawyer.

Get over yourself 5:11, Rouson is actually DOING something for his constituents. rather than toeing the line. Good for him!

Yeah, he has really done a lot. (tongue in cheek)

He's done much more than internet hacks like you 5:23...

what a waste of everyones time and OUR money! Don't you know they fixed it last special session!VOTE them ALL OUT!!!

"He's done much more than internet hacks like you 5:23..."

... says Daryl...

8:16 - No, I'm not Darryl, but I did vote for him in the special election. I'll vote for him on August 26th as well.

Special Session? That's no surprise and not all that unlikely. The legislature can use one anyway since the GOP pissed away so much time last session, and we already know Rouson's support is limited to the GOP or those he can pay or fool.

So it's a 50/50 shot they convene early, and Christ gives Darryl a wink and a nod on this, to try and show Dems Rouson has big medicine, even though he takes right wing School Voucher money... all the more firmly pinning the elephant's tail on that funny looking donkey.

Wrong Donkeybreath - they're corporate vouchers, and given the failure rate of Rouson's constituents in public schools, it's no wonder that he supports them. Corporations are paying for the vouchers that benefit poor, undereducated children, who are failing at record rates in the public school system. Nothing "right wing" about that, unless you're just a Rouson hating moron.

He's MY District 55 Representative, and will be for the forseeable future. He's earned huge support in this district for fighting drugs, crime, promoting self responsibility and bringing economic development to the district. We're proud to have him as our representative.

Deal with it.

corporate vouchers where corps get tax credits affect our schools too. Decreased revenues because of these credits means something is getting the ax. All too often it has been our public schools and Rouson is part of the problem.

Aparently Daryl didn't fight drugs enough... 'cause Midtown Dem has plenty!

Sorry Daryl, if I want a Republican, I'll vote for one.

Fool, The public school system already benefits "poor, undereducated children" in this country. Millions of them, and it has for a very long time.

Public schools also teach kids the truth without religion...unlike some private schools our money would be forced to support with school vouchers.

School Vouchers take scarce money from school kids and Rouson is helping them do it.

Shame on Darryl Rouson for taking their money.

And shame on the Republicans for standing by while religious nuts and political wackos take over their party, and buy people like Darryl Rouson who is willing to destroy public education in Florida.

fool=midtown dem @ 10:29

donkeybite = Ed Helm loser

You know… for someone who thinks so little of Ed Helm, and professes his lack of importance… you sure are fixated on him. You should see someone for that before you pull a muscle or something.

You all are just pissed cause Darryl is taking over the south side by storm. Sorry guys but you have to agree that Darryl is on a role and is getting more media attention than any other state rep except Marco in the state. I mean name me another rep asking for a special session from the Governor to fix an urgent problem. All other opponents need not apply-

Dude, sit down before you fall down. Darryl serves Darryl... Daryll has always served Darryl... and Daryll will always serve Darryl. "His" Special Session will be a meaningless as the previous ones.

It's a campaign stunt, and a pathetic one at that.

If public schools are failing, it is the fault of the Republicans from Jeb on down through Wilcox and the School Board. The Republican solution is to take money away from public schools and give it to private schools which are free of the Republican "No Child Left Behind" constrictions. All this leaves an uneducated student body and a busted teacher's union, the true Republican goals.
Rouson is a wolf in sheep's clothing if there ever was one, and Pinellas Democrats are waking up to it.
