If you're feeling thirsty tomorrow evening, stop by a voter drive at the Dunedin Brewery for a free beer and live music.

The Bob Hackworth for Congress campaign is holding a voter drive at the bar, located at 937 Douglas Avenue, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. People who aren't registered to vote can get a free beer if they sign up to vote. Registered voters can bring their voter ID card and get a free beer as well.

Under 21? You get a soda.

A volunteer from the Barack Obama campaign will attend as well, according to the Hackworth campaign.

Hackworth, the mayor of Dunedin, is a Democrat running for the District 10 seat now held by U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young. On Tuesday, he'll face fellow Democrats Samm Simpson and Max Linn to see who takes on the 38-year incumbent in the general election. District 10 includes most of Pinellas County, excluding Clearwater and most of south St. Petersburg.

If they are registering only now, then the Dunedin Brewery newbies can't vote in the primary only the general election because of the 30 day rule. (If I'm wrong on that, correct me and I'll solemnly write my membership check to the League of women Voter newsletters again.)

If so, Hackworth is helping Obama with new registrants presumably, although fritting away precious time before a primary drinking beer with non-voters. I think he just wants to have a good time on a Friday night, and I don't blame him. The guy knocks on doors like a machine.

And it doesn't hurt to be the down to earth guy you can hang out with.

Back in 2006, there was no mudslinging, the focus was on the issues, and diffences in the issues. Max has not been slamming others, but it seems that the only way Hack and fans know is sleeze. So, you get what you put into it. Hack has opened himself up to this, he has not came out and made any kind of political stance, and solely relies on mudslinging. Maybe he will learn a lesson about playing fair.

The only reason I mentioned Hack's wife is because he inserted her in this campaign when I called him a liar based on a letter sent to my home. His wife came to his defense and agreed that he was a liar based on the information in the letter. I have the letter and her e-mailed response.
