Hackworth receives teachers' union endorsement

Congressional candidate Bob Hackworth has received a key endorsement Tuesday's in the Democratic primary against two opponents on Tuesday.

The political action committee of the Florida Education Association, the state's largest teachers union, has endorsed Hackworth. Hackworth, the mayor of Dunedin, is running for the Congressional District 10 seat now held by Bill Young.

“Only a serious candidate can defeat Senator Bill C.W. Young in November and we feel that Bob Hackworth is that candidate,” said Jade Moore, according to a press release from the Hackworth campaign. “When we interviewed him, his commitment to teachers and kids and the highest standards of education was very apparent.”

Hackworth has collected a handful of endorsements, including from Largo mayor Patricia Gerard, St. Petersburg Councilman Karl Nurse, and firefighters.

His Democratic opponents are Samm Simpson, who ran in 2006 against Young and received 34 percent of the vote, and Max Linn, a term limits advocate who ran for governor with the Reform Party in 2006.

Good endorsement. Samm's endorsement is also good.

ABML: Anyone but Max Linn!

Good luck to both Samm and Hack.

SJ

big step out for Jade & PCTA.
Glad to see them do it.

Can you believe Jade Moore would not support Bill Young who has done so much for this area?? What gives? Forgot, he is also against Amendment 5 that would support the people of Pinellas County!

DOES THE TEACHER'S UNION KNOW, THAT HE DOES NOT SUPPORT UNIONS! HE CAN'T EVEN USE UNION PRINTERS FOR CAMPAIGN MATERIAL, AND USED FAKE UNION BUG ON PRINTED MAILERS.

I'm thrilled to see one of ours pull the wool over the eyes of the hated Teachers Unions. It just goes to prove that we should be pushing stricter teacher evaluations - they are so stupid.

does the teachers union not know that his name is "cw bill" not "bill cw" and that he is a representative not a senator....no wonder people have problems with pinellas education.

Go Bob Go!

I find that very interesting,( No union printer) has the teachers union been contacted about this?
Bob must have some insiders, to get any Union endorsements, if this is the case.

Hack's gig is up. People are not falling for the same ol empty suit this year. He lacks any soul, he may be riding Obama's coat tails, but he inspires no one.

Congratulations, Bob!

Go Bob Go.

I agree with the commenter at 10:10.

That quote mentioning "Senator Bill C.W. Young" is very disturbing. I would be interested to see the original quote to know if the misnaming of Mr. Young is Jade Moore's error, or that of the Hackworth campaign.
A google search for "Bill C.W. Young" shows the error is often associated with writings by the Hackworth campaign:

It just seems odd to me.

Will the loser who can't get any printing work becaus he is a communist unionist please shut up.

If we can change congress we can change the world.

I am very surprised Jade Moore remains as a representative of the teachers union. Mr. Moore voted to place Amendment 5 on the ballot choosing verbiage that a well-educated judge could not understand. He tried to pull the wool over the taxpayer's eyes. I bet you had no knowledge that he created two service tax exemptions if the legislature chose to add a service tax to help replace the projected $11 billion dollar shortfall if the Amendment 5 were to pass. If Jade Moore were for something, I would examine it with a fine toothcomb before I could endorse it.

Jade Moore is a tool, and a poor one at that.

RE: CW Bill Young Misspellings

What do you expect? Hackworth's Hacks are barely computer literate enough to access this site, do you actually expect them to post their drivel and insults with any sort of consistent accuract.

Try Rent a Drunk Bob!

Bryan,
you need to get a life. obviously they are just typos, get over it, Samm is DONE, DEAD WOMAN WALKING, OBSOLETE. Maxi is finished and should be on vacation after a beating like this. Bob is the best candidate out there, you know it and so do all these idiots that like to write on here. Enjoy the losers circle on Tuesday.

Of course, the only candidate in this race with NATIONAL endorsements is Samm Simpson. For the unitiated: National Progressive Dems Of America, National WAND, along with local DFA, St. Pete Dems PAC, elected officials, and the Veterans Post.

Gee now isn't that just a big ol' LIE 12:08. I didn't know the St. Pete Dems PAC was national, and by the way it's the south st. pete dems pac. Name one elected official that endorsed Sam? Let me help you, that would be 0. Samm is OVER, DONE, FINISHED, KAPUT, and a LOSER twice over.

What's National WAND?

Weirdos Against Normal Democrats?

10:01... aka: dope!

St Pete Dems isn't national, that's why the poster posted "along with local DFA, St. Pete Dems..."

And if I were Samm, I wouldn’t want any elected official’s endorsement. They’ve all but proven to be useless, corrupt, minion, party hacks that could care less about the concept of representation, or the good of their respective constituents.

BTW… your vitriolic and adolescent-staffer attacks against Samm tell me – and many voters – that she is exactly what we need.

Go Get ‘Em Samm; I know you’ll serve us well, and with complete integrity --- a refreshing change I look forward to.

Now, 10:01 --- hurry up, I suspect you have a middle school bus to catch.

Endorsement from teacher's union , how interesting. Maybe they believe he's a Democrat in name only (DINO)after all I've never seen him at a DEC meeting until this year. A Republican who chose to run as democrat because he's not really a viable candidate.

Good luck to all District 10 candidates on tuesday and beyodn. Sadly, CW is going to steam roll who's left because money talks, and he has lots of it. I prefer Samm Simpson because she is isn't afraid to confront the issues

Good Luck to all Candidates in CD-10. I prefer Bob because he is the most qualified candidate with the best record of success. The other two don't stand up in my opinion. Bob has the best chance to defeat Con. Young in November and isn't that what were looking for?

10:33 i suspect you have an unemployment line to stand in, better hurry
