Two more endorsements for Dicks

With the Democratic primary for Florida's 9th Congressional District just days away, John Dicks racked up two more endorsements - this time from the Sierra Club and a retired Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.

In a statement released today by the Dicks' campaign, Sierra Club spokesperson Bev Griffiths said the environmental organization supports Dicks for his stance on "the need for clean and renewable energy, and (his) firm opposition to expanded drilling off the coasts."

The former Plant City mayor has also garnered support from retired Marine Corps Sgt. Major John L. Estrada. Estrada announced his endorsement at the 85th National Convention of the Marine Corps League in Orlando last week. Estrada is the 15th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, the branch's top enlisted member who serves as the senior enlisted advisor to the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

"Two more endorsements for Dicks"

Who cares what the Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Groups voted to use for noise-making whistles this New Years!

Great news for Mayor Dicks. He's run an honorable campaign and it sitting poised to shake up the staus quo in 9 come November. Very proud of you, John!

Sure, Dicks seems like an honorable person on the exterior. I'm sure on the personal level he is quite decent. Politically is where I have problems as his policy and plans are nothing more than a hollow echo of what his party is doing.

To say, "I'm for renewable energy", is way too easy. There is no substance in it. I think the Sierra club bungled the endorsement. What renewable energy Mr. Dicks?

Do you mean Ethanol?

All that has done is decrease my MPG and increase food prices. Take your Ethanol and shove it in a special place.

Do you mean Solar and Wind?

Any jackhole can say we need to double our Solar and Wind. The fact is, Solar and Wind provide about 1% of our energy demand and doubling will provide 2%, whip-dee-doo.

Do you mean Natural Gas?

Oh, you mean all that Natural Gas being pumped back into the ground so we can't use it? You do know that, right?

I'd really like to vote for a Democrat this go around, but they haven't provided me and many I know, a candidate worth voting for. Dicks is just another example of a politician with ZERO PLAN to SOLVE anything.

Recently I've been looking at Johnny K and Richard Emmons. Although they're independent and have a tough fight ahead, they at least have substance. I especially like Johnny K's energy plan, but I guess the Sierra Club can't back an indie.

Oh well, we lose again to big party politics.
