Fasano letter prompts mistrial
NEW PORT RICHEY — State Sen. Mike Fasano's letter to the judge started out like this: "I realize I cannot get involved in the Eloise Mudway case."
Oops.
He's involved now. The senator's letter led the judge to recuse himself Thursday from the trial of a New Port Richey couple accused of bilking the 91-year-old woman out of her home and savings. Read more here.

That is a bit funny.

Senator Fasano has been around long enough to know that this crossed the line. Although not surprising what he has done, it is surprising that he actually got caught. I suppose that Judge Day is not part of the "Good Ole Boys" or was someone else involved in blowing the whistle on this?
I really feel bad for the poor old woman for having to endure this longer than necessary. Way to go, Mike!

The headline on this story should be "Legal Assistant Causes Mistrial". It could have been anyone sending in a letter to the judge on this case with their opinion. The legal assistant should have never handed it to the judge to read. If anyone should know better it should be the employee of the court, not the non-lawyer Senator from the district. This was a screw-up of the worst kind but not on the Senator's part. Just because you're an elected official doesn't mean you lose the right to free speech and the ability to voice your opinions. Yet again another example of someone who is not doing their job and looking for somewhere to point the finger. The legal assistant should be reprimanded for this act of carelessness with the taxpayers money.

11:07,
So.... it's not the person pulling the trigger... it's that damn bullet acting on it's own behalf again.
Good call!

11:07 - It's Fasano's fault, get over it.
He SHOULD know better, he's been around a long time and is on the JUDICIARY Committee.

Pay Attention: I am paying attention, are you? This is the legal assistant's job to shield his boss from communications of this type that come into the office. It would not matter if it was a letter from the Senator or if it was a letter from John Q. Public, either way it would have been a mistrial. You seem to be under the false impression that Senator Fasano went out of his way to contact the judge and put his two cents in. This story says nothing of the sort. It states very clearly that the letter was sent to the office and the legal assistant who should not have passed this along did. I have to wonder if this was a Democrat Senator if you would have the same opinion, somehow I doubt it... Your response clarifies a great problem in our country...nobody is doing their job anymore and when they are caught they point the finger elsewhere. And if they can make it a partisan attack, well that's all the better isn't it?

1:29,
So.... if the bullet passes through a skinny girl and hits the intended... it's the skinny girls fault because she did not eat enough McDonalds!
Good call again, you're on a roll!

1:43 you make no sense either. The bullet is the letter, the person who loaded it into the gun and pulled the trigger is the legal assistant. Is it the bullets' fault or the person who loaded it into the chamber and fired it? It's a no-brainer...

Actually, bonehead... the person who loaded the gun with the bullet (the letter) is the person who wrote the letter (the bullet)... and the person who fired the gun is the person who SENT the letter.
The smart person is the person who ducked (the LA), and the idiot is the person who took the bullet(Fasano).

Sometimes our fellow Republicans need a thorough explanation.
