Gregory Pound ejected from Palin rally

CLEARWATER -- Gregory S. Pound, a write-in candidate for Pinellas County sheriff, was ejected from the Sarah Palin rally Monday morning.

Pound says he arrived at 5:45 a.m. and waited in line. He had two tickets with him and entered without a problem.

About 8 a.m., inside Coachman Park, he said two large men came over to him and said they needed to talk with him. The men escorted him out of the park and told him not to return.

Police Lt. James Steffens said two people were ejected, but he would not give the identity of either one. He said it was up to the Republican Party to decide who stayed and who left the rally.

Last month, Pound was thrown out of a convention-watching party hosted by U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young. That time, Pound was arrested on a charge of trespassing and taken to jail. Once in jail, he refused to go to his first appearance.

That led a judge to order him detained for psychiatric evaluation under the Baker Act.

Pound was not charged with a crime Monday. He said his ejection was particularly disappointing, because
"I'm a supporter of McCain and Palin. I make phone calls for them."

I used to work with Steffens. That guy does what ever he wants. At the same time the chief of police lets this go on.

We may not agree 100% with Mr.Pounds views but he should not be a target and pushed out with no reason.

I think I got a call from that Pound guy. He said that McCain's economic policies were not Bush policies, and they were good for the working man.

Clearly delusional.

This is a public-owned venue, funded by tax dollars...Pound’s less-than stable demeanor notwhithstanding…

"He said it was up to the Republican Party to decide who stayed and who left the rally."

... and you folks still think we live in America?

I'm sure Pound will be on here in no time throwing out some more of his conspiracy theory, nutjob nonsense....

Mr Pound is crazier than in a bedbug

Kind of like AJS's but-kissing work for CW "Pork" Young!

Ron Lincoln IS a bedbug... ewwwwwwww

Ron is a cute fellow

If you are going to insult me could you at least spell the words right?? You Max Linn lovers sure are spiteful...

And the funny thing is that this guy will probably still vote for McCain, once again proving how crazy he really is.

Pound supports Palin.

nuff said

"They are not big enough for the moment."

Who is Max Lin? I have never heard of him.

Tough call. He has a right to go. He is also clearly not right. This is just an example of how the Republicans stage manage their events so much. However if I was a secret service guy protecting her I would not want him at the event. He has had too much happen lately and would assume he is close to snapping.

Pound was found by the courts to be a potential threat to himself or to others. He should be removed from anywhere that might make him "snap". I don't want him around me.

If Pound has moments of instability (which I've yet to be convinced of) -- it would not be surprising. This guy and his wife have had their children stripped away from them simply because one was bitten by a relative's dog -- an accident that could have happened in any family, and no fault of their own. Yes -- Greg Pound has a beef with the justice system in Pinellas County, a well-deserved one -- but it is no reason to throw him out of public functions.

Bitten? Really? Are we still telling that lie? Thats the story Greg likes to tell. It sounds so much more acceptable yet pitiful for him. Susie was mauled. The dog carried her around by her head. She was in the hospital for weeks. Greg is Guano Crazy. He's a little man in a desperate search for a windmill to charge. Loves attention, that one does.

Are you serious? If the GOP were going to throw every annoying person outa their rally you think they'd be limited to 2??? Any small chance this guy's got a valid reason for his crusade and maybe, just maybe he's onto something regarding DCF and the means to their funding. I'm horrified to hear so many families have had their children removed (to protect the kids, no doubt) and thus subjected to far worse circumstances and abuse- but hey, it keeps the system going. DCF turns the other way and keeps giving kids to abusive foster homes. Can someone PLEASE explain how this occurs so very often. Even better- what can I DO to help make necessary changes and force accountability from top to bottom. Oh- and stay enough under the radar to avoid devastating consequences, imprisonment or have my child taken from me...This is freedom and democracy based upon constitutional rights??? WHO is really being protected here?

This is my dad and I found this article by googling his name, he moved to Florida from Indiana after his first divorce. I am an atheist and he is very religious so we dont agree on many things but I am very suprised people are calling him a nut. The case worker was arrested and convicted for falsifying over 20 cases and he still hasn't had his children returned to him.
