Obama supporters told to 'keep the momentum going'

President-elect Barack Obama's candidacy did little for Democrats hoping to join the ranks of local government this fall.

But some Obama supporters still hope his popularity will eventually help Democrats running for office.

Sometime-candidate Alex Haak sent out an e-mail this week that urged supporters to "keep the momentum going." Haak invited supporters to attend a rally Saturday to drum up support for Democrats vying for seats in the local March election. The event will be held at the St. Petersburg Main Library on Ninth Avenue N between 2 and 4 p.m.
