Gibbons announces campaign, finance chairs

Deveron Gibbons has lined up some big name supporters for his mayoral campaign. Some of them even live in St. Pete:

Campaign co-chairs: U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, Pinellas County Commission Chairman Calvin Harris, state Sen. Dennis Jones, state Sen. Arthenia Joyner, former state Sen. Jim Sebesta, Rep. Darryl Rouson, Rep. Ed Hooper, Pinellas County Clerk of the Court Ken Burke, Rep. Dean Cannon, Rep. Will Weatherford, state Sen. Michael “Mike” Bennett and former Rep. Anthony “Trey” Traviesa.

Finance chairs: Dr. Akshay “A.K.” Desai, CEO of Universal Healthcare; Jim Holton, owner of Holton Cos.; and Tim Higham, president of Interstate Transport Inc.

Hmm. Not a lot of them are from St. Pete.

My question is: What say you to this, Mr. Gibbons?

BREAKING NEWS!

“BayWalk foreclosed”

--- A Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Circuit judge ordered the foreclosure shortly after 11 a.m. this morning. Judge J. Thomas McGrady set a public auction for Feb. 13. Until then, the property technically will remain in the posession of STP Redevelopment, a company owned by Fred Bullard.
Mel and Co. will walk free and clear, leaving the taxpayers on the hook!

Tell us, Mr. Mayor Hopeful… “Exactly” what do you intend to do about this, and will you accept campaign contribution from Mel and Co. or any bundlers thereof?

Bilirakis
Harris
Jones
Joyner
Sebesta
Rouson
Hooper
Burke
Cannon
Weatherford
Bennett
Traviesa

That’s a serious list of Republicans and “Owned-Bys”.

Welch wont run.

Sorry Deveron, but this list is going to do you more harm than good. It's a nice list if you are running for state house, maybe, but it isn't very mayoral.

Unless I am mistaken, there are three Campaign Co-Chairs from St. Pete, only one of which lives north of Central Avenue or West of 16th Street.

There is not one neighborhood president on the list? CONA COUNTS remember?

Certainly Darryl's endorsement helps, but does anyone in this city give a foxtrot what Arthenia Joyner, Ed Hooper or Trey Traviesa thinks?

Said with Viking love, but I'd mix in a neighborhood person or two.

Well, there's a list I'm taking to the polls in November. I know who NOT to vote for now.

As far as the CEO of Universal Healthcare-well, the complaints will begin. Universal Health Care is the chosen health care provider for Pinellas County employees. I wonder who services the City of St. Petersburg.

I will be watching my tax dollars with just as much scrutiny as I watch my family budget during the 21st century depression!

It's time the real crooks started wearing orange jumpsuits. You better believe someone writing bad checks at Amscot is going to jail, well-it's time the CEOs stealing money and abusing government relationships started paying the same price.

Well then, Peter, do tell for whom you're pimping!

Hey, pimpin' ain't easy, so even if I was, I couldn't just show you how.

I actually like Deveron, would probably have liked to work for him if, you know, I hadn't been arrested and stuff.

I like Jamie and Ken, too...all guys I'd pimp for if there was a market for such a thing.

St. Pete mayor candidate Deveron Gibbons releases big-hitter list
January 13, 2009 at 2:00 pm by Wayne Garcia
Deveron Gibbons, an AMSCOT veep and Republican civic appointee running in this year’s St. Petersburg mayoral race, has released his list of big-name supporters and finance chairmen, and it is top heavy with a congressman, Florida legislators and other well known politicians.

Gibbons for Mayor Announces Campaign Co-Chairs and Finance Chairs

Deveron Gibbons, the business, civic and education activist running for Mayor of St.
Petersburg, today released names of key Campaign Co-Chairs, together with his three
Finance Chairs.

This group, announced just eleven days after Gibbons’ official filing for office, represents
a diverse, bipartisan cross-section of city, county, regional and state leaders coalescing
behind Gibbons’ candidacy.

Campaign Co-Chairs
Congressman Gus Bilirakis
Pinellas County Commission Chair Calvin Harris
State Senator Dennis Jones
State Senator Arthenia Joyner
Former State Senator Jim Sebesta
Representative Darryl Rouson
Representative Ed Hooper
Pinellas County Clerk of the Court Ken Burke
Representative Dean Cannon
Representative Will Weatherford
State Senator Michael “Mike” Bennett
Former Representative Anthony “Trey” Traviesa

In addition, the Gibbons for Mayor Campaign officially announced the three Chairs who
will head up the fundraising operation, two of whom have significant records of political
fundraising statewide as well as locally.

Finance Chairs
Dr. Akshay “A.K.” Desai: CEO, Universal Healthcare
Jim Holton: Owner, Holton Companies
Tim Higham: President, Interstate Transport Inc.

“I am very humbled and honored by the incredible confidence these leaders have show in
me, and how they share my vision for a safe and prospering community that is pulling
together as ‘one city, moving forward’”, Gibbons said today.

“We’ve been receiving calls of encouragement from across the city, region and state, and
will continue to grow a political family that’s united in purpose and determination,”
Gibbons added.

More announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

A very fine list of Republicans. Too bad most of them don't live in St. Petersburg. Devron, do you think the voters are that stupid??

Where do I send my donation?? Do I drop it off at any Amscot office??

Will Jim donate his used underwear?

Ewwwwwww....

Where do I send my donation?? Do I drop it off at any Amscot office??

Mayor Baker has set it up so you can drop it off when you pay your water bill. LOL!

why are Jim HOlton and AK on there they havent been big fundraisers in quite a while

Is it true that Deveron is not married because he is a homosexual

you gotta love it when a payday loan company officer wants to run a city.

Treviesa has always lived in St. Pete.

Did Trey live in St. Pete while he served in the Florida House from Hillsborough?

The first draft of Deveron's press release is up at:

Why isn't Angelo Cappelli on the list? Wasn't Deveron his finance chair?

Angelo is indisposed at the moment

Don’t look now, but someone has a very serious issue with Gibbons. If you look very, very carefully at the website, you might just find a clue. I’m not saying it will disclose the author… but everyone has a connection somewhere, and everyone makes a mistake.

Or, you can just pay me HUGE… and I’ll tell you who it is.

All I can tell from the website is that no one is reading it. 1 comment posted since 2006. It's a voice in the wilderness.

There’s a big difference between “posting” on a blog, and reading/monitoring a blog… take the Bay Buzz for example!

Some of these folks will peel off when Ken Welch announces.

KT from PE to BOCC – RF to PE thanks to KT – KT to SP – RF from PE to BOCC thanks to CC
