Fabian Calvo gets endorsement from Rebecca O'Dell-Townsend
Fabian Calvo, one of three Republican candidates running for House District 45, announced today that he has won the endorsement of Rebecca O'Dell-Townsend.
She is a former President of the Suncoast Women's Republican Club and founding member of the Downtown Women's Republican Club in Tampa.
But her name may be familiar for other reasons, too.
In 1989, O’Dell-Townsend gave birth to a girl, whom she said was fathered by Gov. Charlie Crist after a one-time sexual encounter in the fall of 1988. When Odell-Townsend, who was going through a bitter divorce at the time, accused Crist of being the father, he steadfastly denied it.
Yet Crist signed legal papers waiving parental rights, which helped pave the way for O'Dell-Townsend to place the child for adoption.
Those records surfaced in the 2006 governor's race after allies of Crist's primary opponent, Tom Gallagher, circulated copies of the confidential adoption records to reporters around the state.
Since the adoption, O’Dell-Townsend went on to become a lawyer and has been active in Republican causes.
Calvo said today that he had been vaguely aware of that story but did not think much of it.
“That’s really none of my business,” he said. “All that stuff, it’s not something I choose to get involved in.”
He said he was impressed by her skills teaching constitutional law. “I’m honored she’s endorsed my campaign,” he said. “I hope the positive is on the good work she’s doing.”

Fabian should go hunt down Charlie Crist's first wife and see if she will endorse him too.
What a tool.

Who gives a schmidt? We are already creeped out by Crist. No impact on his fundraising. Obviously, someone is getting something somewhere.

I think it's funny that people write a candidate off simply by lack of fundraising compared to the other candidates
Calvos opponents both come from the corrupted special interest, corcorhan is a persoanl injury attorney and starkey is a liberal, I know Calvo will out work them both.

Are you all idiots?? As a member of the Glenn Beck 9 12 group this endorsement goes a long way. She spoke this last week to a group of about 125 people, that's a hell a lot more then any Pasco executive club meeting for the GOP I have been to on some time. Starkey attended and so did Calvo. The audience gave her a standing applause and loved her, this goes along way within grassroots people that are sick of the establishment and a poser conservative like corcorhan. Corcorhan is an ambulance chasers for crying out loud, that is supposed to conservative?? Someone who made his living attacking and destroying the small business owner?? Give me a break!

Fabian has been a solid conservative about 6 months ago when he started his stupid radio show and tried to be the next rush limbaugh

I know Kathryn and she is definitely not a liberal. And her campaign contributions come from the local community, not a 527 or some lobbyist who had their arm twisted by someone else.

Ms. O'Dell-Townsend claims to be a member of the Constitution Party, but I received this email from a high ranking official of the CP party when making an inquiry:
"Rebecca does not represent the Constitution Party and holds no position in it. I suspect she is a Republican plant. She has gone out of her way to attack and undermine the actual CP--Florida Chairman, Dan Gonzales."
