Ed Helm is up with a mailer
Ed Helm was able to make time during his Costa Rican holiday to put together a mailer that's dropping in mailboxes today. See it here (You might have to rotate the first page in Adobe Acrobat).
Helm, apparently, didn't have time for a new photo though. That's a picture from four years ago (when he was sans mustache).

“Ed Helm was able to make time during his Costa Rican holiday…”
“Helm, apparently, didn't have time for a new photo though.”
Gotta love those balanced and unbiased Times hacks… errr... political reporters. Like I said, we use to research and report the news based on facts… now we script and perform the news based on personal opinion and bias.

They never reported about him getting robbed In Costa Rica. that is news we'd like to hear more about.
This mailer is not so good.
1. The quote about being born before woman could vote wasn't clearly labeled as coming from his mother in law. My first thought was "I know he's old but he isn't THAT old.. is he?"
2. Putting "yes we can" on a mailer is just too blatant a rip off of Pres. Obama.
3. What is a Beaver Flag? Is that a new accessory for the Strip club scene?

Actually Zen... the phrase "Yes We Can" was actually first used here locally by a State Rep (50) candidate named Candice Jovan back in ’04.

Helm is as sick as Schorsch, men who love to hear or read their own name. Let's not waste time commenting on either...

Ok Dork if you say so. I don't remember Jovan much. Of course I don't live in HD 50 either.
Still as you point out. It is NOT original at all.
Posted by: Zen Master | July 17, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Neither was it when Obama used it. So are you saying that Helm is as bad as Obama?
Posted by: -) Master | July 17, 2009 at 04:46 PM
Jovan ran in 06, and Obama used it before her.

Not that any of you idiots care to write anything beyond your foolish ramblings but, for the record "Yes We Can" is a take off of "Sí se puede".
This phrase is the motto of the United Farm Workers.
What the heck does any of this have to do with whether or not Ed Helm would be a good Mayor?
Posted by: For the Record | July 17, 2009 at 05:00 PM
It has to do with it because he put it on his mailer. I wanted to see something more original. Helm is an OG after all.. No,no, not an original gangster, he is the original gadfly.

Ed is up? Gross!

Hay Ed is Max running for congress again? Do you think he will be Justice? Do you think Max will beat Max?

You know Ed you have a lot of energy.
If you could only focus, you could be a winner. You always blow it when you decide to take over. You hurt the candidates more than help them. You can not see the big picture. You only seek revenge. You always hurt your own cause.

A vote for Ed is a vote for the devil.

Here I thought you where getting your self ready for Congress run, not knowing it was mayor, I know there was a catch to your meetings over your mother in-laws house, and the silly cards you had filled out, if you had a brain Ed you would be dangerous,we used to say, stop making a jerk of your self and stop using people, I know you got me, o, well my own fault I guess.
Did you know that you can not chance the health issue as a mayor Ed.

"For The Record" --
I thought the question of "whether or not Ed Helm would be a good Mayor", as you put it, was answered conclusively four years ago when St Petersburg voters overwhelmingly said "No, No, No!" to his Mayoral pretensions.
By the way, Candy Jovan's HD 50 "Yes We Can" campaign ended dismally in defeat, as well, causing her to ignominiously disappear from the Pinellas political scene.
Isn't it interesting that the ONLY endorsement Ed Helm could scratch up in the entire county is one from his agedmother-in-law. That's got to be Number One on the list of Most Pitiful Political Actions this campaign season!

I’m amazed that we have so many political geniuses on the blogs… but not on the ballot. Those that can, do; those that can’t, blog

Thanks for posting the link to Ed Helm's mailing. I didn't get one in the mail yet so I'm glad to see it.
If you look at the mailing the hostile comments are pretty silly. Although I appreciate the history lesson on the United Farm Workers and Candice Jovan.
Ed must have struck a nerve with the local political establishment because to me that mailer was not objectionable at all. So much fuss over "yes we can" and his mother in law.
Do any of his critics object to his take on the issues? How about his objection to one party Republican rule of local government because the DEC was content to let local seats, from mayor of St. Pete on down, go unopposed?
His position on city issues is on his web site.

Yo, Envy ...
You left out one category -- those who consistently LOSE! Ed Helm has multiple entries in that one.
Again, just tryin' to keep it real ...

11:44 pm. That is one serious run-on sentence. Mix a period or two in every once in a while.

If you are tired of looking at Ed's postcard, you can take a look at Jamie Bennett's mailpiece here:

Yo, 6:24… you putting that self-proclaimed political acumen of yours to the test by putting your name of a ballot… or are you more comfortable hiding on the blogs where your limited intellect can’t be challenged in public?
You couldn’t keep a secret, let alone keep it real.
