Pasco Republicans back Bill McCollum
LAND O’ LAKES – Pasco County Republicans on Thursday night took the bold step of endorsing … a Republican.
Meeting at Land O’Lakes Community Center, 213 members voted to endorse Attorney General Bill McCollum in his bid for governor. One person abstained. Another dissented.
The Pasco County group becomes the first county Republican organization to endorse McCollum, who is running against Democrat Alex Sink, according to former chairman Bill Bunting.
Bunting says this vote sends a strong message: McCollum is their guy for governor. No other Republicans need apply.
“Pasco isn’t afraid to take a leadership role,” he said, adding he believes other counties will follow suit.
Chairman Randy Maggard said it’s time for Republicans to get in line behind McCollum. “We don’t have to wait,” he said. “We want McCollum.”

This comes as such a surprise. A shock really. Right wing boneheads for McCollum, good luck.

The bold step of endorsing the only known quantity on the GOP ticket for Governor, what nerves of steel this must have taken. Way to give away cash for no good reason. I thought Republicans touted fiscal responsibility? Doesn't sound very responsible to me sounds more like the opening salvo that was done to obfuscate the issue for the sheeple on the REC and the real intended purpose, the upcoming local races. Now that this endorsement is in the bag and funds have already been forfeited they can endorse Bill Bunting's personal selections on the local level at a later date without having to explain why it's worth the money. Baa-baa little sheeple you've been had again, can anyone say Ken Littlefield?

Yes, endorsing the only Republican candidate is a nervy thing for the Pasco Repubs to do. They obviously aren't afraid to be laughed at.
I'd like to know who the guy was that voted against Bunting and his boy, Maggard's, plans. THAT is the guy with balls of steel in that outfit.

And for that vote they will probably call him a Democrat and kick him out of the RPOF. The R's can't stand dissent.

Just a correction. There were only 113 members present for the vote.
