It may seem crazy now, but eventually the summer heat will fade and the prime Florida cycling season will begin. Here's a list of some upcoming organized rides to benefit various causes around Central Florida.

I'm with you, Adam! I love the fall riding season! Maggi and I will be volunteering on the Miles For Hope rides on 9/20, riding the Withlacoochee Rails to Trails ride with a bunch of other tandems on 10/5, and riding the Share the Road ride on 10/19.
So. Which events are you riding?

The day after the Share the Road Ride and Bicycle Bash by the Bay (both Sunday, Oct. 19), Florida's ProBike/ProWalk Conference will happen downtown St. Petersburg.
The conference includes rides on Oct. 21 and 23.
Oct. 20-23:

Check out the keynote speakers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Dan Burden the FL Dept. of Transportation's state bicycle/pedestrian coordinator and helped Gib Gibson and the other Pinellas County cyclists get the state laws improved concerning bicycling in 1983?
Adam, it would be so nice for you if you could attend the conference, interview speakers, and print some of it in the newspaper!
P.S. I've been quiet for a few days. I figured I've said plenty lately. :}

Kimberly- I do believed you are right about Dan Burden. He was also one of the founders of BikeCentennial, which is now Adventrue Cycling out of Missoula, Montana. Cool guy. TALL guy.
Me? I'll be at the Mount Dora Bicycle Festival, autographing books. Look for me down the hill by the Chamber of Commerce building on Alexander Street on Saturday, October 11th.

here's a link to an article about the cyclist who was shoved by a nyc police offcer during one of the critical mass rides. the video was all over you tube - it's pretty outrageous.
