Well folks, I wasn't sure how I would feel about this post, but I think the time is right.
The Times has been very generous in allowing us to start so many blogs on such varying topics, but the day has come to cull the herd. As you might guess, Spoke N Word is not near the top of the list in terms of readers when compared to blogs about football, politics or local news.
In an effort to consolidate the blogs, we have been asked to merge with another blog, Personal Best, a blog all about everything health and fitness.
I'll still be posting cycling-related content there, and who knows, the new readers might see it and decide they want to join the sport as well. You can find it at blogs.tampabay.com/health.
So I'll see you over there, thanks so much for all your comments and contributions. Keep riding.
- Adam

Well, it was sure fun while it lasted, and I have to thank Adam for all of his work on this blog over the years. Now we'll have to see how the merge goes and hope for the best.
See you all over at Ghost Rider's place!
(Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.)

Well, that's a bummer. Still, I'll be sure to check in to see what they'll let you post over there, Adam.
Thanks for providing this outlet, in any case -- you've done the Tampa Bay cycling community a lot of good things! I'll miss my daily visits...but like Chip said, we'll be happy to receive any traffic over at Bikecommuters.com!!

I've talked to people who read the Spoke N Word blog but don't post.
So, there were more readers than the St. Pete Times realized.
I appreciate all the positive, constructive, educational things people posted to this blog. I hope that part keeps going.

Ok, so what happened here? At first, SnW was to merge with the PB (aka "Swine Flu R Us") blog, but that didn't happen, so SnW just sort of disappeared. Now has the SPT relented and brought it back, albiet in a somewhat hidden and subdued form?

I save links to my favorites. Click there and Bip!, it's still active. So, I just had to search the Site Map to find where SnW was hidden.
I sent out some e-mails to tell other bicyclists where to find SnW. I need to send out more e-mails.
I guess we bicyclists need to send a bunch of e-mails to St Pete Times management to let them know, we might not be posting much, but we're reading and keeping in touch.
We spend most of our time bicycling. Unlike a lot of other sports fans, bicyclists actually go out and do their sport instead of just sit and watch it.
Bicycling isn't a sport. It's a life-style. Our bicycles are family members. Bicycle theft should be classified as kidnapping.

With no new articles posted here for two weeks, how "active" is the Spoke-N-Word these days, really?
Adam?

Chip, I'm not actively posting on this blog any more. Any future posts will be on the Personal Best blog. (blogs.tampabay.com/health). See you there!

Althought mourning the demise of our beloved bicycle blog, think of the possibilities.
We can read through the Personal Best posts looking for ways to add info about bicycling. I just got through adding a comment:
http://blogs.tampabay.com/health/2009/05/our-health-habits-are-driving-us-to-the-medicine-cabinet.html#comments
We can use Personal Best to educate about road laws and safety techniques for motorists and bicyclists, encourage more people to try bicycling, encourage more people to use exercise (bicycles) to reduce transportation costs, etc.
We'll be reaching more than just rabid bicyclists!
The possibilities are fantastic!!!
